Worked fine to bypass POE power around a non POE switch.

I wanted to set up a wireless access point to act as a booster and repeater for my Starlink Mini when camping. The AP I chose (like many) requires POE power. I knew it would work on 12v so I just had to find a way to supply the power. Rather than cutting a network cable and attaching the proper connector to feed 12v I went looking for a POE injector with a 5.5x2.1mm DC connector and found this one. The price was super reasonable and the injector works awesome. Very pleased.

A simple, inexpensive power injector. Male barrel connector on one end, Female barrel connector on another end. Unfortunately, "passive" PoE injectors don't always play well with true PoE equipment. -Passive PoE injectors don't have power protection or negotiation -Passive PoE injectors use half the wires, so might work with 100baseT, but won't work with gigabit ethernet (which need all 4pairs) -True PoE devices use >48 volts, so the voltage drop along the line is manageable. However, wIth a passive device, sending ~12V along a ethernet cable will result in a voltage drop that might not work with long cables. Read up on PoE before you decide this will do your job.. [...] This could be useful for a camera or other device that is not a true PoE device, like a remote

I used this dc injector / receiver pair to power my ATT fiber to catX unit that was mounted in my crawl space. I simply removed the power adapter (not good in a damp crawl space - and the extension cord -ugg) and plugged this in. The power is now injected up in my garage where I have a modest little networking shelf setup. I can now power it all from a UPS and it’s super simple to reset/reboot everything as needed. My network speed has been capped at 50x50 by ATT and I believe that this dc balun set basically allows for 100mb connection since it halves the wiring to use for the DC power. Four of the eight wires are now used for power transfer and it would by definition disable the ability to get gig speeds. If I upgrade in the future I’ll simply run another cat5 or 6 line to gain gig speeds and keep this in place.

Purchased to power my wireless router, have 100 ft of CAT6 and power was not sufficient enough to properly run the router. Did a troubleshooting test with only 5ft of CAT5 from power to router and still no luck. Device powers on but not enough to keep it going. My device works properly without the POE injector.
