Yes,use at night as far away from the bright light source as possible for better insect trapping results.

Yeah,if you want to leave it on all day then you can close the light sensor switch.

Is the equipment loud when catching insects?

I personally believe that this is acceptable,the sound of insects being zapped proves its effectiveness.

Will this bug zapper catch house fly?

Not sure,but you can try it,I hung it on my porch and was pleased to eliminate some flies.

I would like to know how well it actually captures?

After two days in my backyard,I was amazed to find the box filled with dead gnats,mosquitoes,and other bugs.It was worth every penny.
