Stick to 3.3V controllers if you can - the Chinese manufacturers of these boards like to say that they're 5V compatible, and I've had them work before, but it's dodgy. 3.3V logic is much more reliable. If you're using a 5V arduino, I'd recommend getting a cheap logic level shifting board like these: http://amzn.to/2D8JJ3O To be honest, it's always good to have a few of these things around, anyway. Adafruit has a library that is compatible with these displays: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_ILI9341 You need a microcontroller that can dedicate a couple of pins to the display for SPI communication. Specifically, you need a pin each for CLK, MISO, MOSI, CS, and DC. You'll also probably one one for the reset signal. The LED backlight brightness of the display can either be powered by a pin or simply connected to 3.3V. When I use these screens, I dedicate a pin so I can dim the screen in the code for additional effects. I have never tried using the SD card functionality on these boards, but I understand it's pretty straightforward. You'd need to dedicate a few more pins to the data transfer. **Q: Is it possible to dim the backlight on this tft?** A: Yes, the LED pin is the gate pin to the LED transistor and can be set to any level between 0-3.3v. You can also PWM this pin to set a light level. **Q: Can it display color?** A: Yes **Q: Can i get the datasheet for this? i am not using it on an arduino or pi, and need the dimensions, etc.** A: Yes, just about any ILI9341 controlled display will do. I used a TM022HDH26 V1.0 data sheet and everything except the display size and some of the component placement where different. Just know this display is 240x320 and you should be fine. These are very generic display's/controllers and many company's use them. I've used dozens of these without many issue.
