Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals: The Influential Philosophy Classic on Kant's Categorical Imperative and Ethics (Harper Perennial Modern Thought) [Kant, Immanuel, Paton, H. Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals: The Influential Philosophy Classic on Kant's Categorical Imperative and Ethics (Harper Perennial Modern Thought) Review: Great book - I especially like the additional commentary by Patton. This is a good edition and is well translated. The commentary helps to tease out some of the subtleties of Kant's work on a difficult subject of morality. Review: Love This Book. - I have always loved this book-it goes back to my first day as an undergraduate. I find it the best get lost book I know of, to give to all the ex-hippies and other members of the self annointed enlightened liberal members of the world.

Great book
I especially like the additional commentary by Patton. This is a good edition and is well translated. The commentary helps to tease out some of the subtleties of Kant's work on a difficult subject of morality.

A good edition
One of the classic books of philosophy for a cheap price, and a cool cover, not much else to say.

That cover made me buy it
What a cover! Instilling new live into Kant's work, for sure. A troublesome use of parallels, plus a sense of undeniable fatality gives me the joy of trying to understand this guy.

Groundwork
I found it very difficult to follow. Guess I'm not into philosophy.

School
Strangely enough very interesting ideas that are relevant to even today...a good read even if it was for school. I got something out of this.

An outstanding work, The work itself and also Paton's rather fine elucidation. The only downside on this particular edition -- at least the copy I purchased -- was the binding. On such a small book it is not a great inconvenience but I've used a considerable amount of sellotape in keeping the pages together!

The groundwork is essential for anyone who wants to understand Kant's way of thinking about free will and morality. Like Hume, I find his rigorously syllogistic approach refreshing, relative to more modern wishy-washy rhetorical styles. However, this particular edition of the groundwork is a bit of a mess. Certain insertions are placed out of order within the rest of the text, and there are numerous typos and missing words. Read the groundwork. But read a different copy of it.

Why are there no pages or publisher details in this book? I bought this for academic essay writing which I have to reference!
