Q: can you download recording from the recorder to laptop without any software for this. so far i have not been able to download files from recorder.

Hi and thank you for your question, this product should have come with a licence key for our SpeechExec Dictate software included with this product, which will allow you to download from the unit and configure settings on the unit. Q: Can this record music from a cassette player and play back with same volume level.

Hi, and thanks for your question, this is quite difficult to answer, as we would not be in control of the quality and level of output from the cassette player, if you had a lead made up to go from the audio output your cassette player, to the Microphone socket of the DPM 6000, then the results may be acceptable, but if you were just using the in-built microphone on the DPM 6000 then it really depends on the acoustics surrounding the location of the devices. etc. Hope this assists you
