Woman Much Missed: Thomas Hardy, Emma Hardy, and Poetry

A very insightful account of Hardy & Emma’s relationship, which has been carefully researched & has used every scrap of evidence available to build a picture of the world in which this singular relationship existed. To me it is more gripping than any novel & at times a tear jerker beyond words.It is written skilfully around Hardy’s poetry & novels, as well as surviving notes & letters written by Emma, with links to the influences of Hardy’s extensive knowledge of ancient & contemporary literature.Altogether an excellent, thought provoking read by a gifted writer.

A very touching account of how some of thed best poetry in English was written
