Compact sturdy loft ladder that fits above loft hatch
Great ladder and easy to install. I needed a ladder that could fit above the loft hatch without needed to slide behind the hatch itself as I had a wall directly behind. This ladder worked perfectly. In the box you get the hinges, latch and hatch eyelet to convert a push up hatch to a pull down. You get the ladder already assembled and ready to be mounted to the back of the hatch which does need to be about 20cm in height. You get all the hardware except the screws / bolts to attach the wooden backboard the ladder is fitted to to the wall / loft hatch surround. You also get a hook to fit to a pole to pull the hatch open and pull the ladder down. The ladder is easy to pull down but won't drop down by itself. After installation the ladder worked well but was steeper than I wanted. So I contacted the seller and asked if I could buy an extra tread to be able to pull out out further and reduce the ladder angle. The seller got back to me within a day and I ordered an extension for £20 which was delivered the day after. It was simple to fit and still retracts up into the same locating point. Brilliant ladder definitely recommend!

Great purchase! Highly recommend !
These are wonderful! Very sturdy, they are super easy to install and don’t take up any space at all! They have perfect grip on the steps and the steps are large enough for a comfortable step, I would highly recommend these for Lofts/Attic

excellent loft access for limited space lofts
the product was a must for me with a loft access limited to the hatch area and less than a 1Metre clearance above the hatch. The unit is heavy to handle and will need 2 people to fit unless a suitable clamp is used. I have taken the precaution of a first fix of 5 x 80mm (No8) screws to get the facia plate in postion in the loft access frame (added strenghth to the frame with 70 x 100mm beam). Then for a second and final fix removed each screw individualy and drilled through with size 10 bit to cut through facia and support beam to give a hole for inserting a 140mm (size 10) bolt, with washers, spring washers and nut to give a tight and substantially strong fix - all the other screws replaced by bolts in the same way. The ladder/steps expand to a length greater than I need for the 8 foot drop needed so a quick fix of unbolting a step and refixing in the correct configuration was straightforward. The altered steps' length is now ideal for the best angle for the unit to line up to the loft access and have the quite deep treads level for ease of use. The access trapdoor has been replaced with and MDF 9mm board nut I would recommend that a 12mm or maybe 18mm board is used if space allows to avoid any bowing in the trapdoor which is now suspended either end rather that sitting on the old rectangular frame. There may also be a need for insulation so allow space on the underside of the trapdoor for insulation - refelctive sheets - if you can. Also, allow for the couterbalanced uit of closed steps to be brought down to a vertical position without it whacking into the trapdoor or breakage will occur - I know! I used spacers that are normally used on door frame fittings but easy to get hold of or any thick plastic spacer that is approx 5 mm depth and a size that can be screwqed to the facia borad where the steps and its frame collide. The spacers will cushion the blow and should stop the trapdoor being knocked off its hinges or even worse. Overall, after the work is done I am very pleased and the additional work to make the fixings robust is worth the effort. The product has been used many times during a refitting of the loft flooring and insulation with the combination of a firm fix to the loft beams and extra deep tread being (a) compact and convenient (b) comfortable to use and (c) gives confidence to the users that it is a safe access compared to an alternative of free-standing ladders.

Loft ladder
The ladder on the whole is a good product. It folds up neatly and takes up very little vertical space. For a concertina ladder it feels relatively sturdy although there is a little bit of wobble which might put less sure footed people off. The finish is good with (mostly) quality materials although on my ladder there were some sharp bits of aluminium which needed filing off. The opening/closing action is a little harsh- it makes an abrupt movement into the down or up position. When the lowering mechanism is in the down position you lift the steps off a holding hook and lower them to the floor- I personally don't mind this but I think someone a little frail might struggle. You can lower the steps with a hook however since this means you have to hold the weight of the steps I find it easier to lift them off by hand. I am 6ft tall so this isnt a problem however you might need a stool if you are shorter. When fitting the ladder it is worth bearing in mind that the lowering mechanism or tray that holds the steps opens up to about 25 degrees from vertical - in other words it will hit the side of your loft hatch if you don't fit it low enough. I found that the supplied plastic hook was of low quality and did not fit the product properly- I have ordered something more sturdy.

Superb
Superb ladder for our loft. It is heavy so make sure there are two people for the install. Since installing, it is so easy to use and works with a plastic roof door. I am very happy. Now my wife even goes in the loft!

Excellent but care needed with fitting.
Well made, works well & instructions are clearly written in real English. Two words of warning, though - don't try fitting it on your own! I did & eventually succeeded but only after hours of struggle & much foul language. With one person in the loft & one below it would have been easy. Also, if you are securing the board with bolts, make sure they will not interfere with the mechanism - I didn't & that caused more foul language.
