Very effective way to maintain crystal clear water - just keep away from the fish.
As Spring came, the light shifted and filled our 15 gal tank with sunlight... meaning there was an explosion of algae. You could barely see the poor fish through the bright green cloud. I remembered using UV back in the day and ordered one of these. Very easy to use, you just pop in the tank but keep in mind, this bulb NEEDS to be in a filter or somewhere that the UV light can't reach the fish or you won't have anything alive in the tank! This little wonder started clearing the green immediately, and although it took 7-10 days to completely turn the water crystal clear again - it's a very effective, non-toxic way to keep your take clear for a long time. Have had it going for over a year now just for maintenance and wouldn't have a tank without one!

This little UV light really gets the job done!
These little UV lights are a really game changer for me. I use them in all of my tanks. They keep algae at bay and help all of my aquariums to maintain crystal clear water. Plus, you can’t beat the price! The oldest ones were purchased 3 years ago and they are still functioning without an issue, so I definitely think they’ve been engineered well. UV light is just like staring into the sun… it’s not good for you to look directly at it for very long, which also holds true for your aquatic critters. When using a UV light, you want water to freely pass around it, so that it can help rid your tank of damaging free-floating organisms (such as algae, bacteria, and parasites) by damaging their dna, so they can’t reproduce. Placement is key, because it needs to avoid being seen AND you don’t want to kill beneficial bacteria in your filter. So, how do I utilize these little lights? I pop them straight into my HOB (hang on back) filters. I also tend to use AquaClear filters, but this trick will work in any HOB filter… which hides them from sight (mine and my fish!). I’ve added a photo of how I place them in my filters. I place them behind the inlet/inflow pipe. This way water flows around the UV light first, then it passes through the filtration media, which houses the majority of the tank’s beneficial bacteria. As you can tell from my photo, it fits nicely and it’s really simple to use… just plug it in and turn it on! There’s an on/off switch on the cord. But there’s really no down side to leaving it on 24/7, which is what I do. And as I said previously… I have some that are still going strong after 3 years. Look at the pictures that I’ve posted… if you’re looking for clarity in your water and you want to reduce potentially harmful pathogens… then just buy one of these right now! I recommend them to anyone who asks how to get rid of algae. They are so worth it!

No more headaches
I had tried everything to get tank cleared. None of the products worked, must have spent a hundred dollars trying to clear. Finally as last result tried this little light. Four days later!! We’ll see for yourself.Fits nicely in HOB filter and only ran during daytime hours. Recommend this product for both cost and effectiveness.

Solved green water problem
This solved my problem of having green water every week. Would give five stars because it works grate but giving four starts because you have to put inside the filter and filter cartridge will not fit. Had to buy different filter and improvise.

Not effective.
Used this for 8 hours/day for 4 days. Green water got greener each day. The included test strip says it's working. I can see the blue light when it's on. The enclosed specification says it operates at 220V. USA uses 120V. That means this 3W bulb only outputs 1.5W; making it useless.

Game-Changer for Plankton Blooms
Absolutely 5 stars! My 20-gallon freshwater aquarium used to be completely green from plankton. I wish I had taken a photo before—no matter what I tried, I just couldn’t keep the water clear. The plankton wasn’t harmful to the fish, but it looked terrible. Water fleas didn’t help because the fish ate them within minutes, and I didn’t want to use chemicals.I installed the lamp directly into the filter housing, and after about two weeks (with one 50% water change), the water became unbelievably crystal clear. The lamp has been off for two weeks now, and the water is still perfectly clear. I'm beyond impressed!

Highly recommend!
Great product! Cleared up my tank within a few hours I had a bad bacterial bloom for a few days. The water was very milky and I couldn’t even see to the back of my tank. Highly recommend! Just place inside the filter not in the actual tank!

Not bad but need material
It does work. It took about a week or two for my 40 gallon tank to clear up. You will need a filter or some type of tube that will allow water flow but also allow no fish through. Which is hard if your like me and your fish had babies so they’re tiny as can be… anyway, if you have a good filter already this will fit in, it’s not a bad idea. Cheap. And it does work as advertised but also as people said, it’ll kill your fish if you expose them to this light. Follow the directions and you’ll be fine. I wish the light was smaller tbh it’s kinda awkwardly fat I had to buy a 5 gallon filter just for it to sit in and not kill my fish
