Bought this to replace one from a different supplier that failed after 8 years. this one was very simple to set up and install, step by step guide on the unit itself, instructions are very clear and easy to follow took me 15 minutes from start to finish, I recommend reading the instructions first so you know what to expect on the units set up routine, it's very neat and compact and works a treat, lots of options on there including setting different times for each day of the week if required, not needed for myself as just set to open and close at the same time each day, saves getting up early in the morning and it means you can go away on holiday knowing the chicks are safe ( neighbour checking daily and giving corn in the evening ) also you get a 3 year warranty with a British maker, takes a couple of minutes on their website to register your warranty, options to upgrade if needed, not for me as I prefer a timer to the sensor option so the door opens at a reasonable time as although I've not got a cockerel, chickens can be noisy early in the morning if they get spooked by nosey cats etc.

I looked long and hard at pros and cons of many doors and control panels . I originally bought the all in one chicken guard and realised before fitting it that the the cold air would go through the holes (as holes were larger than I expected) in winter at same level at hens were perched so sent it back and got the Chicken guard pro with locking door. I'm 2 weeks in since fitting it and checking it morning and night and so far it's worked with no issues. Resizing entrance was a bigger faff than fitting the unit. I've set it on timer in the morning as it's still cold early so doesnt open too early and on sensor at night which works perfectly on the factory setting. In the summer will put it on light sensor morning and night as only have hens now and they are safe in their run. Love this unit so far. Will up date review if that changes. Update - Still working great with no issues but i also like that there is no bar at the bottom that door has to slot into because it would just get full of dirt from chickens feet so thats another plus.

Really excited to get this product however it was a nightmare as after closing the night we installed it perfectly and opening the next morning we thought great, brilliant product! However that lunch time i went over to see the chickens and half of them were shut in, the other half shut out of the coop. The door had shut sometime between when it opened in the morning and lunchtime. I rang chicken guard as very worried about this especially if it did the opposite in the middle of the night it could be disastrous. They talked me through the set up (which was exactly what we had done) and assured me it wouldn't happen again. Only the next day for it to happen exactly the same! Very disappointed with this product and found it dangerous as half my chickens were shut in their coop in the middle of the day in the heat and desperate to get out when i went over there!

This is very good and helps insure my chickens are safe is has a slow opening however is very safe for my chickens. This product is made up of sturdy materials. This is a great value for money!!

Such a great bit of kit and very easy to set up. I purchased the door as well, again, easy to fit. I liked it so much I purchased another two motors to cover the food and water to help keep the rats out. One raising an upside down flower pot and the other a lightweight plank over the trough. Not what they had in mind I am sure, but they are lightweight and the motors cope fine. What is really great is that we can go away for a night or two and not have to worry about putting them to bed. I have set the opening and closing on timer, not Light Sensor as I want it to close later, just in case one of the Chickens wants to be a dirty little stop out.

Easy to install and set up. Works great. No problems so far and gives peace of mind.

The instructions are very clear to follow and made the setting up very easy. There are no complicated switches inside to tell it when it has got to the top or bottom of its run, just a simple calibration setup. The box is compact and looks very weather proof, with simple buttons to setup and over ride the opening/ shutting of the door. If I had looked into it a little better I think I would have gone for the one with a light censor on it to close a bit earlier in the winter rather than have to set the times differently at different times of the year. Not a big problem in the scheme of things though.
