Good and not-so-good
First..these shoes..after being broken in for a few weeks felt great. Solid. I was looking for a waterproof shoe that was tough and built well, but felt like a tennis shoe. These are it. The reason for the 3 stars is that after a month or so of wear...the "nubs" on the tread started to fall off. I wasn't hiking any trails...mainly wearing them to work...walking on pavement etc. I took them back to the retailer and exchanged them for a new pair and am hoping for different results. If not, I'll have to go in a different direction. For $140 and average wear (no trails) I expect better quality.

Excellent shoes
This is the third pair of TNF shoes I've owned, but the first of this model. The previous pair of Hedgehog shoes I bought about two years ago and they still look about the same as the day I bought them. Most shoes are disposable - seemingly designed to get you to purchase again and again, whereas my experience with TNF shoes is that they are designed to last for years. These shoes feel just as sturdy as my Hedgehogs, but feel much lighter and should make great shoes for hiking, the gym, and everyday use.The sole of these shoes is extremely comfortable, but very rigid in a good way. These will be good shoes for hiking because they're thick enough not to feel every bump under your feet, or for working out legs at the gym because the strength of the sole will prevent footplates from digging hard into the arch of your foot if you are doing seated calf-raises, or working out calves by having your feet on the edge of a leg press footrest.Despite the high price, if these last me two years, paying $140 for these shoes would be a lot less than paying $60-80 a pop for other branded shoes that only last me about six months. The only complaint I have about these so far is that my shoelaces arrived with cracked plastic caps on the end of them, so the laces are somewhat frayed. I contacted TNF customer support's warranty department and they are supposed to be sending replacement laces out.

Extremely comfortable shoe. Great fit.
Great Shoe. I just hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in them (7 days of hiking up to 19,500 ft) and they held up really well. Some Northface shoes fall apart after 3-4 months of tough wear but these seem to be worth the money and are more durable.

Stop your search, you'll love these shoes
Love these shoes. Originally only wore them for hiking. Then Hiked all of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in them. Once they were super broken in from that, started running in them.... wearing them to the gym, doing heavy squats and lifts in them. They hold up incredibly well, no rubber pieces of have chipped off, and my feet are crazy comfy in them. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

High Quality Shoes
Been wearing these as my everyday shoes for almost 2.5 years now. They're still holding up. Although, the tread is almost completely worn down as would be expected. The laces had to be replaced a month ago, but that's it.

I'm a fan
This is my second pair of North Face shoes and I love them both. The Fastpack model is a great look in my opinion. I tied the laces and tucked them under, so I just slip them on. Very comfortable. I've had these shoes for a while now, and they still look great. I also carry a North Face backpack and their products have not let me down. I will buy again.
