Meh. Ive had better. Theyll do
Pros: Fit as expected...which is a plus because i wear exactly a 12.5 which are hard to come by. being made of gore tex they are waterproof...which is great for me since im a nurse..i can get out of my car and get snowy shoes and maintain dry feet for the rest of my shift. they are attractive, arent the more obnoxious color schemes that asics had gone to in recent yearsCons: Since they are gore tex they do not breathe. at all. meaning if youre feet sweat, plan on washing them a few times a year. also the gore tex tends to make a swish swish sound that never goes away a la George Costanza and his swishy suit. i think theyre over priced for what youre getting...110-120 or so before taxes...i would rather spend it on gel cumulus or Nimbus next time. the last two pairs of asics just havent been as comfortable as my previous 4 pair i have purchased. i dont know why that is, but these- the sole is more supportive than rigid, maybe that's how they are supposed to fit..be that as it may, i still feel they could be more comfortable. also the heel cup on my older asics was deeper and felt AH MAZING ON on my achilles. these not so much. the previous pair of shoes i bought were Brooks Ravenna 4. i think i have to rank those higher than these. ive only had these shoes a couple of months, i will probably buck up and buy another variety of shoe here in another month. as i said before as a nurse i am constantly on my feet and i find having a near perfect comfort/fitting shoe is a must. sorry asics. youre dropping the ball. (and can we please get some guy's shoes who's color schemes are more diverse than your standard white, gray, silver and blue or neon yellow? there are other colors in the rainbow that dudes like)

The shoe itself is very comfortable and fits my foot perfectly
The shoe itself is very comfortable and fits my foot perfectly. My feet run a little on the wide side, while not always requiring a wide shoe so I was a bit leery but I couldn't ask for a better fit. I had to try out how "waterproof" they were and so I hit them with the hose, socks came out dry! They are warm, so I would say more ideal for a spring, fall, or winter activities. I do live in Wisconsin, and have worn them on a handful of run/hikes and they aren't terrible hot, they do breathe, but they do warm. They do have a semi noticeable sound due to the Gore-Tex but that was expected. These shoes are light, and have great absorption while running/hiking. I have no complaints and would recommend these shoes 100%. I phased out a pair of lower quality asics I had bought 1-2 months previous at Kohls that had a terrible ammonia odor I was unable to remove with new soles and a hand wash/soak. I do wish Asics would've done something about my old shoes being pretty much worthless after 1-2months of use. I literally would be "that guy" if I wore them and took them off at a friends or family members house, the odor was truly that bad, never had a pair of shoes do that before.

Pro's Beat Con's - though a slippery decision
When I was considering the purchase of these shoes, I saw more good comments than bad comments, and that's how I feel about them. The water-proofness is great, and they are reasonably cushiony for running. I purchased these for an adventure race where I knew there would be wet weather. Pros: waterproofness is great, style is versatile, cushioning and support is good (but not ideal if you're into low-rise running shoes), and they keep your feet quite warm (good for cold places). Cons: they get very warm on your feet with the Gore-tex, and the traction on the soles is very slippery on wet surfaces. If you're going to be on wet pavement or damp or wet stairs of any kind, be careful with these - they are slippery. That being said, these worked great for my adventure race on my 3 mile running segment in the rain, and I plan to wear them for regular errands and when out and about during wet weather at home.

Good shoe, a little strange on the sizing.
ASIC's sizing is a little strange. For years I would order a size 12 though I wear a size 11 1/2. Their size 12 would be 46 in european measurements which fit me perfectly. This includes the GT 1000 that I bought last year. However, in buying the size 12 of this shoe (GT-1000 3 G-TX) the european size turned out to be 46.5. They are not so large as to be unwearable-- I am wearing them, and they more or less fit o.k. But as I said ASIC's sizing is somewhat strange. It is still a comfortable, stable shoe. I pronate, and the regular earlier GT-1000 was a motion control shoe. This GT-1000 seems a little less so, but still o.k.

Good shoe
In general, I like these shoes, but they are a bit more snug than I expected versus previous ASICS purchases.I get used to them once I have them on, and they are comfortable for wearing all day, as long as I wear thinner socks. I'm not a runner, so I can't evaluate how they perform for their intended use, but they are supportive and comfortable for general use.I like the potential for Gore-Tex, though I have yet to take advantage of it in actual use. Contrary to the hype for Gore-Tex, I don't think the shoes breathe nearly as well as shoes I've had without it, but I have less chance of wet feet next time I get caught in the rain.

Toasty Warm Feet
I haven't tested the waterproof capabilities much yet but these are great winter running shoes, but they are certainly water resistant. I've run in slush and a couple inches of wet snow and these have kept me dry. i have not stood motionless in a puddle however. I probably will only use these int he winter because they are warm! I can ditch the smartwool socks and wear my normal thin running sock with these and not have numb or even remotely cold toes after a 5 mile run in 30 degree weather. The soles are grippy too, i feel pretty solid running in snow without slipping as long as it has not gotten too icy or crusty. These will be my a-game winter runners, but I will go back to my usual running shoes for the other 3 seasons.
