The scent is sublime. I will be purchasing this multiple times in the future. I use it everyday in the shower. Here’s a secret: I dab a little behind my ears and on my chest before I put on my clothes to use in place of perfume. Terrific purchase. I highly recommend this item.

Molton Brown is a great, quality brand. For your money, you get a very large 10 oz. to use in the bath or shower. It leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I love the Lily and Magnolia Blossom, its a light, soft fragrance and not overwhelming at all. I can't wait to try Molton Browns other scents!

Ah, Molton Brown. The name alone conjures images of marble bathtubs, silk robes, and the kind of refined British luxury that whispers, “I moisturize with confidence and generational wealth.” So when I splurged on the Lily Bath & Shower Gel, I expected a transformative bathing experience. I wanted elegance bottled. I wanted to feel like a Victorian duchess doing her skincare routine in a greenhouse. What I got instead was a philosophical crisis in a very pretty bottle. Let me be clear: this stuff smells lovely. It has that soft, clean lily scent that feels like a floral lullaby. It lathers decently. The packaging is what you'd expect: elegant, minimalist, and smug. In a very “don’t ask about the price tag” way. But then... I read the ingredients list. Artificial dyes? In a luxury product? Why, Molton, why? These synthetic colors aren’t just unnecessary (who's demanding Blue 1/Ci 42090, Yellow 6/Ci 15985 in Lily & Magnolia gel, exactly?), they’re the kind of ingredients you side eye in cheap supermarket brands. While yes, technically they're “generally known as safe”, we all know the integumentary system is no slouch. Skin absorbs. It absorbs meds, it absorbs lotions, it absorbs regret from that time you used glitter sunscreen. So forgive me for wondering if my shower gel is silently plotting against my mitochondria. Then there’s the petroleum derivatives sprinkled throughout, hanging out like uninvited guests at a Michelin starred dinner party. When you’re paying premium prices, you expect premium guests: botanical extracts, nourishing oils, angels wringing dew from wild lilies. Not ingredients that scream “industrial soap base.” Oh, and let’s talk about sodium benzoate. Yes, yes, generally regarded as safe, but introduce a little heat (say, from a hot shower?) or some ascorbic acid (from your vitamin C serum, maybe?) and suddenly you’ve got a chemical best known for... being very naughty. Again, why are we still using these cheap preservatives in luxury products? It’s like putting fast food ketchup in a $200 charcuterie spread. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some truly lovely, VERY high quality ingredients in here. You can see the intention. It’s just frustrating when that intention gets watered down by corner cutting additives that have no place in a bottle with this kind of price tag. In the end, Molton Brown’s Lily & Magnolia Shower Gel is like a five star hotel room with IKEA sheets. You’ll still sleep. It’ll still smell nice. But deep down, you’ll know something isn’t quite right. Will I finish the bottle? Maybe, but if I do, I’ll be doing it while fully aware that I paid artisan prices for something that’s halfway to drugstore soap dressed in a tuxedo.
