This volume is actually a collection of three works by the author: Mindfulness in Plain English, The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, and Beyond Mindfulness. Basics of mindfulness meditation covered in the book include the four foundations of: mindfulness of the body, feelings, mind, and external phenomena. How to overcome the three poisons of greed, anger, and indifference. Vipassana meditation covered in this book leads to understanding the true nature of self and of phenomena. It cultivates awareness to see things as they really are. There is a three-page guide to daily practice (pp. 202-204) that outlines a daily mindfulness meditation practice that can be useful for new practitioners and those more experienced. More than just a book on mindfulness meditation, this book discusses several Buddhist concepts, including the four noble truths and the eightfold path to relieve dukkha (suffering).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wisdom, clear and comprehensive.

Mindfulness in Plain English is one of my most recommended books for anyone new to Meditation or Buddhism in general. This lovely hardcover edition is wonderfully high quality paper, printing, binding, and includes two additional works: Four Foundations of Mindfulness (a commentary on the Satipatthana Sutta) and Beyond Mindfulness (exploring the Jhana states of concentration). This creates a very complete, almost start-to-finish guide to Buddhist Meditation in a single book, highly readable and very down to earth for such lofty concepts.
