Ancol Gloss Reflective Cat Collar with safety buckle Red

I decided to get collars for my two-year-old cats while I waited for their microchips to be updated. I decided I wanted reflective quick-release collars with a bell, to which I could attach a separate ID tag. After a lot of research (yes, I'm a bit of a crazy cat lady), I selected these collars, which fitted the bill pretty perfectly. The cats had never worn collars before, so initially they weren't thrilled. I got them on surprisingly easily though. Female cat tried frantically to lick hers off, while male cat's strategy was to try and moonwalk out of his, and when that didn't work, to hide under the coffee table. However, after a short while they had calmed down and got used to them. I distracted them with some treats and supervised them for a while to make sure they were OK and that the collars were fitted correctly before I let them outside. Female cat has escaped from hers a few times, but each time she's been in the house, so I've been able to put it back on, which she's been very relaxed about compared to the first time! (I've never seen her do it, but I like to think that she bursts out of it like a small, furry Incredible Hulk.) They both go out and about a lot, and they're both still wearing them after two months, so my experience has so far been that they're secure enough, despite the (in my view essential) quick-release function. The International Cat Care (formerly Feline Advisory Bureau) website currently recommends that owners consider whether their cat really needs a collar, and warns of the potential dangers of collars. Collars with elastic inserts can be dangerous because apparently the cat can put his front leg through it and get stuck, which can cause injury to the cat's 'armpit' area. In my view, there is a lot of good advice on that website in relation to collars, so if you're thinking about getting one for your cat I'd recommend checking it out. After looking at their advice, I decided to go for snap-open collars, which I thought would be safest. Before fitting these, I checked the quick-release functions on both to make sure they would snap open if the cat gets caught. A cat collar isn't a fashion accessory. That said, these collars look very smart, and all without compromising the safety of my much-loved moggies. If you decide your cat needs to wear a collar, these ones are a good choice in my view. The collars are fairly big, so I think they'd only fit a fully-grown cat. My female cat has hers as tight as it will go, and I can still comfortably get two fingers underneath it.

I get these relatively often as my cat George delights in losing them as often as possible. These have the safety buckles, which probably means I'm paying out more to replace them, but I'm much happier knowing that he isn't going to getting hung or strangled. He's not your usual graceful kind of cat, if any cat was going to get stuck by his collar, it would be old Captain Grubby Paws. The red looks really nice against his black and white fur, and the collar is the most reflective I've seen. I feel happier knowing that he's easy to spot at night. It also comes with a bell on it, which he hated for the first hour but then got used to. The bell helps to give birds a heads up before he gets anywhere near them. Delivery is always quick, and the low price means it doesn't matter if I'm buying one a month.

My little man lost his collar and fed up with expensive (and long deliveries) I opted for this collar instead! I’m delighted with it! I’ve used a name tag from a previous lost & found collar and attached it! The red good reflective material (a little stiff to start with but fine it he would not tolerate it!) An ideal safety clip, plenty of adaptable space plus I ordered late yesterday afternoon and it arrived today. Brilliant service and great price too…..Definitely would recommend

I find Ancol collars the best for my cat; they are easy to resize and the plastic has never snapped or broken. They have safety release; even though my cat doesn't go outside much, she manages to get it snagged on things quite a bit - I have lost two of these in as many months! Still; good value and fairly cheap so I will keep replacing them!

Very reflective in the dark, flashes brightly in car headlights or even in fairly low light. It looks and feels high quality. The clasp is nice and snug, better than the button style clasps on many other safety collars. The bell is easily removed for those of us who think it is unfair to stick a bell on a cat. I give the collar five stars but I give my cat one star for retaining collars; he loses at least one per week no matter which brand of collar I get. I bought 4 of these around a month ago and they are all gone now. Like I said though, this is NO reflection on the collar and very much a reflection on my cat; I think he has figured out how to remove safety collars. If your cat is capable of keeping a collar for more than a week then I would say that these are a very good buy, particularly if your cat tends to cross roads as it is the most reflective collar I've seen to help your cat be visible to drivers.

Great item! When my cats collars need replacing (which isn't often because these last for a long time), I always rebuy these. Even though they are coloured, they are very reflective. They fit nicely & have quick release. Well worth the money. Highly recommend.

Great collar for my cat. It's reflective at night, she seems very comfortable in it and comes with a bell and can easily have another fitted, which is great because domestic cats killing wildlife to the extent they currently do so is unnatural, and no one wants to come home to mutilated mammals in their living room - bar perhaps crazy cat women types. The snap open function works perfectly and if the collar is fitted correctly there should be virtually no chance of a cat getting it's foot caught in the collar. Considering what the likes of dedicated Pet superstores charge for the same sort of thing this is an extremely good buy, it looks good, feels nice and malleable and allows my cat to be easily spotted on dull winter days.

Tengo una gata que me da pánico saber que en cualquier momento me la encuentro paseando por la calle de noche porque el jardin se le ha quedado pequeño ese dia (cosa que ocurre muy de vez en cuando) Con este collar ando un poco mas tranquilo por dos razones. 1. Con él se la ve muy bien de noche. El collar reflectante cumple su función y aunque no es infalible contra atropellos por lo menos mejora la visibilidad de los gatos oscuros como ella. 2. El cierre, como en casi todos los collares para gatos, se libera sólo si el animal ofrece mucha resistencia porque se enganche en una rama o pasaje estrecho. Yo le quité el cascabel que traía el collar. Se que no es aconsejable para proteger a las aves pero ese sonidito todo el día es un incordio para mí y sobre todo para ella que tiene un oido mucho mas fino. Un dia apareció sin el collar y le compré otro igual. No es caro y te ahorra un disgusto.
