I loved this book so much that putting it to words is honestly difficult! Let me start by says that I really didn't like Zanders in the first few chapters, I disliked him so much that for a second there I thought I was going to dnf this book... How wrong was I? The characters development and the way they validate each others insecurities while pushing one another to grow was just amazing! I always love when books portray mental health and therapy. I've been going to therapy for over a year now and I cannot recommend it enough, so that representation, especially when done right (which was the case here), always makes me connect even more with the book! Stevie is such an amazing FMC. Her struggles with the way she feels about her body are extremely relatable to a lot of people and the storyline about the dog shelter melted my heart more times than I can count!! Zanders character made me immediately think of how we really don't know what's going on in someone's life from the outside. All the insecurities he had about his childhood and the way therapy slowly helped him, the charity he created to help others, the way he loved Stevie for who she was and encouraged her to see herself in a different way... By the end of the book I loved him with all my heart! I can't believe it took me this long to read this book, but I can definitely understand the hype now!! Now it's time for 'The Right Move' and I know I'II love that one, I already love Ryan and Indy Turns out it wasn’t that difficult to put it to words

🧡 REVIEW 🧡 Mile High - Liz Tomforde | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶🌶🌶 "You don't have to love your body every single day. That's unrealistic to expect, but I'll be here loving it for the days you can't." I read this series back in April prior to starting my bookstagram, so my memory for some parts are a little foggy, but needless to say I loved this book! - S Y N O P S I S - Stevie is a flight attendent who lands a job working on a private plane that hosts the Chicago Raptors NHL team. Zanders is the most infamous player on the team, known for his bad reputation and playboy status. When they meet for the first time during a flight to an away game, they have an immediate dislike for one another. She thinks that Zanders is an arrogant guy who lives up to his reputation, and he thinks that Stevie is obnoxious, especially because his charm does not work on her. He does everything in his power to make her life miserable everytime they're out on the road, but as the hockey season progresses, his constant teasing starts to blur the lines of their work relationship. - R E V I E W - I LOVED THIS ONE! My first Liz Tomforde book, and the hype is worth it! Although most will say her second book "The Right Move" is their favourite, this is the one that got me hooked onto this author! Stevie is probably one of my favourite FMC's out there. Shes a curvy girl with a no bull attitude! But there are also times where she shows her vulnerable side. I liked the representation of body positivty and mental health in this book because I found it to be realistic and relatable. Zanders is hot hot hot! Super arrogant, but deep down he actually has a great heart. He plays into the bad reputation because he's convinced that he needs it to stay relevant. I loved their relationship, the banter was great and the spicy scenes were steamy! I highly recommend this book and the entire series! Definitely read this one if you love a good sports romance! I'm so excited for the 3rd book coming out this October!

That post–book glow after Mile High is REAL. You’re so right—yes, it’s long, but somehow Liz Tomforde makes it comfortable long. Like sinking into a couch you never want to get up from. The pacing, the banter, the slow emotional build? Chef’s kiss. Evan Zanders 😮🔥 The way his public image vs. private self was written?? UGH. That soft, protective, quietly broken athlete energy?? No one does it like him. And his chemistry with Stevie—so natural, so warm, so earned. You don’t just read them, you believe them. And STEVIE 😭 She’s strong, grounded, kind without being a pushover. The air hostess + athlete pairing loved it 🩷. Now let’s talk about Ryan because SAME. The man walked into the book and said “Hi, I’m your next book boyfriend” 🤭and left no crumbs. Hot, charming, secretly emotional, and a whole personality of his own. The way he’s set up? Criminally good. And the FOUND FAMILY?? The teammates, the friendships, the banter—it all just wraps around you. Every side character felt alive, not just filler. If Mile High was a “great start of the year” book, that’s because it’s one of those: comfort read ✔️ emotionally satisfying ✔️ swoony but grounded ✔️ makes you stare at the wall after finishing ✔️ Also… yes. The cover. The vibes. The writing. Everything just hits.

Liz Tomforde’s Mile High is the perfect mix of feels, laughs, and swoony moments that keep you hooked until 3 a.m. Evan Zanders is a total love-hate situation for me. On one hand, he’s dreamy—no red flags, no toxic masculinity, just a sweet, supportive guy who hypes Stevie up, adores her confidence, and takes mental health seriously. But when he hurts her? My heart shattered. But the way he makes up for it? Total swoon. The banter? 🔥 Stevie doesn’t hold back, constantly calling out Zanders’ cocky hockey star attitude, and he matches her energy every time. She’s the team’s flight attendant; he’s the star player. It’s messy, forbidden, and impossible to resist. Add in Stevie’s unapologetic confidence and the way Zanders worships her? Obsessed. It’s not just about the romance either. The mental health rep is handled beautifully—therapy, anxiety, self-doubt—it’s raw, real, and so meaningful. ✈️ Enemies-to-Lovers ✈️ Workplace Romance ✈️ Body Positivity ✈️ Mental Health Rep And the chemistry? Off the charts. Zanders flirts like a pro but always respects Stevie’s boundaries. It’s that perfect balance of sweet and spicy that leaves you melting. Mile High delivers it all: swoony romance, laugh-out-loud moments, emotional depth, and characters you can’t help but love.

I've never been more excited to continue the rest of a series based off of a first book. Stevie and Zanders are the perfect start to a series that I've only ever heard great things about. I considered skipping this book and starting with the second one, but I'm so glad I didn't! The hate is completely unwarranted and I think if you're giving The Windy City series a try, definitely start with this one. A beautiful love story with complex characters who grows as the story goes. Love it. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
