Garmin 010-01772-10 Foretrex 701 Ballistic Edition, 2 inches

Lasted through eight deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. These are built like a tank with easy to find batteries for replacement. Last forever, great Ballistics. Battery lasts a long time. It would benefit from an easier way to upload ballistic data sheets for what you're shooting. GPS is excellent.

Great device

I'm not sure it's as good as the AB Quantum App on my phone but it's handy to have on my wrist and useful for marking way points or other points of interest while hunting or other wise bouncing around the woods. My cell phone would do most of this but not without constantly recharging it or getting out of a pocket. This Garmin unit is probably 10x more durable than my cell phone too. In short, it's got almost all the functionality as my phone and keeps my very expensive phone tucked away and safe.

I have the 601 as well, and bought this for the AB quantum tie in, unfortunately AB Quantum, and Garmin explore both depreciate this device, so it's really kinda kludgy to get all the profile information in there. There is a program you can download from kestrel to load your profiles which works, but over-all the Ballistic Edition stuff is really over-rated and doesn't work well on this device.

Im glad that I got a good deal on this device because if i had paid full retail i would have been even more disappointed. getting this connected to my PC was a battle, getting to my phone was a battle. I haven't been this frustrated with a computer since windows 95. This device has a lot of cool features and im sure it'll be great when its all set up but it takes a lot of patience and research on internet to find the tips and tricks to make Garmin Express and Garmin Connect work like they're supposed to. For a hunter, this is the total package, GPS and a ballistic calculator, all in one. Only thing needed would be a temp sensor but that can be added later on or use a different device. if you hunt and take shots over 300 you need this.

Hab das Teil vorwiegend wegen das Ballistikrechners. Der ist gewohnt gut von Applied B. und die Anzeige ist hervorragend und übersichtlich. Die anderen Funktionen des Foretrex nutze ich nicht so oft. Der Drucksensor zeigt immer 1 bis 2 hPa zu wenig an - das hatte ich jetzt bei allen Garmin-Geräten. Der Tempsensor funktioniert gut (Zukaufteil). Die Beleuchtung ist ebenfalls sehr gut und das Display ist sehr scharf.

Hadn't had the chance to try it out fully out field, was happy with the 601, swapped that for this as I needed a ballistics calculator.
