Made of Suede and is is a Dirt Magnet *by R***Z on August 11, 2024* I got the Skechers Men's Relment-Pelmo Hiking Boot for the leather the all construction. Leather to prevent the sharp stickers from penetrating the boot and working there way inside. The leather will be tough enough to prevent that from happening. It's leather all around, and there are no gaps with flexible material, which is great as, inevitably, even these small sections would allow the stickers to work their way in. I wear 12 extra wide, and these fit great. They may be a bit warm in the summer desert, but that's a good tradeoff compared to the sharp penetrating stickers. They laced up well and gave me adequate ankle support. The shaft length, or the distance from the top of the heel to the top of the back portion of the boot, is 4.75 inches, which is a good distance for angle support. They are attractive boots, also. The waterproof statement is a bit of enthusiastic marketing, as the boots are only waterproof up to the height of the 1-inch rubber sole. The sides and top, being leather, would sure, repel drops of water, but surely they would not be waterproof walking across a stream, but that's fine for me. The leather is suede or nubuck, a sort of soft fuzzy finish, and because of this, the boots are a dirt magnet. I wore them the first time in the desert, and where they started out brown, they returned beige, the color of desert sand.
