MUEHLE Safety Razor Twist with Closed Comb, Handle Material Chrome Plated, 1 Pound

I recently switched from cartridge shaving to DE shaving, and I picked the Muhle R89 Twist after much research. The razor does not disappoint. It's pretty forgiving with a medium-aggressive blade, and even though I have a coarse beard, still yields a close shave. The high quality in the construction and finish is evident. It's solid and somewhat weighty -- which means the razor will do most of the work without much pressure. The handle is just long enough for comfort for those with medium-size or large hands. This razor should be under consideration for any beginner or experienced shaver.

I purchased this razor as I was looking for an alternative to my Merkur Futur razor. Don't get me wrong I like the Merkur Futur I have had it for 6yrs now and its still going strong but I was looking for something a little bit lighter which the R89 Twist is by about 1oz (120gm vs 90gm) and I was looking for a thinner head so that I can maneuver the razor around the bottom of my nose mustache area easier which this razor does very well. I like the adjustability of the Futur but have come to the conclusion that having an adjustable razor it is not necessary unless you have particular skin issues, etc which require you to adjust the razor to avoid aggravating your skin. This razor is not adjustable, but seems setup to give a close non-aggressive shave which I like, and the handle has a good diameter, and is knurled to give you a positive grip. The razor feels very well balanced in the hand. The quality of the razor seems great the twist mechanism is precise, no rattle in the handle or head, the lockup of head to handle and blade alignment are perfect. In short it gives the impression of a high quality precision tool, I would definitely buy this one again.

I like this razor. Nice elegant razor and seemed well built. Although they sent me the wrong razor, I was finally able to get the correct razor. I use either Personna Blue or Astra Platinum with the razor. Both shave well with the razor. I also tried a Feather and Merkur blade, they are just to aggressive for my face. I think this is my preferred razor compared to the ones listed below. I think my next razor to try would be Parker Variant. I have a few other razors like a Parker 96r, Merkur Futur, Parker Travel 4 Pc travel razor, Wilkinson Sword.

I received this razor quickly and it was well packaged. It shaves well and is not too aggressive as regards the angle at which the blade is held in the razor or the distance from blade's edge to the safety bar. I would say these characteristics are about right for the most users. This is a heavy razor though and that is feature that I personally do not find to be advantageous, and hence the four stars rather than 5. The heaviness of this razor is partially due to the Zamac alloy of which it is made. I note that some reviewers here believed that this unit is made of steel. It will not attract a magnet and it is not made of steel nor are the vast majority of razors. The cost to manufacture a unit like this of steel is far greater and hence is reflected in the price. For instance one such razor made of steel by Seki, the Feather Edge safety razor is 3 times the cost of this one. Though the alloy that this safety razor is made of (Zamac) is very strong, it can still break and some of the Zamac alloys (there are 6 or 7 different variations of this alloy) are more brittle than others in this respect. Having said that, this material is still a good choice for an item like this and keep in mind that there are even firearms marketed that are made of Zamac. Having said that, just remember that dropping this razor from your bathroom sink to the floor will likely result in it breaking where the handle meets the head. The same will be true of all such razors made of this alloy. The "twist to open" feature of the R89 is convenient and makes blade changes faster than the three piece design which is far more commonplace. This TTO design incorporates a spring on the inside of the handle and so the manufacturer recommends that the user put a drop of oil into the mechanism once in a while by pulling the knob at the bottom of the handle (spring loaded) and applying the oil to the exposed shaft which will allow the oil to seep into the innards of the unit. The oil will work its way forward to the spring inside and it might be a good idea to put another drop at the other end of the handle (or on the screw on the head ) into the screw threads. In summary; this is a well designed safety razor made of reasonably good material and if care is taken not to drop it and it receives that occasional drop of oil, it should last a lifetime.

My first Mühle razor and I love it. Not too aggressive but not too mild. I used the Mühle blade that came with it and now I'll be trying other blades with it too. All in all, I'm very satisfied.

I love this razor! Good heft, plenty of handle, nice stippling on the grip. Everything is first rate about it. The only weak point was the sample blade that came with it. I assumed it would also be very high quality (And it may well be that it just didn't work well with my skin.) so it worried me early on that razor choice might have been a poor one. However, when the time came to change the blade my Astra blades showed me it wasn't the razor that wasn't working for me, it was the blade. Changing blades is a snap. Just turn the little knob and the top disconnects. Maybe "unscrews" would be a more accurate description. Tip, I turn the razor upside-down over a towel and the top falls right off onto it. Did I mention that I love this razor?

This is a very well constructed and finished razor. It is weighted quite nicely and feels good in the hand. There are cheaper but I've learned you get what you pay for. I am using my razor with Feather blades which are a bit aggressive but really do a fine job together with the handle. I think most people will be happy with this razor as I am happy with it.

Good razor, but it has rust issues. Seems the internal parts or spring rust quickly and leaves rust stains on towels when you clean and dry it after each use. I would not recommend it based on this issue.

Peso: 90 grammi Lunghezza: 106 mm Possiede manico zigrinato che offre un ottima presa anche con dita bagnate. La lama, una volta inserita ed avvitato il rasoio, resta sempre in posizione uguale in entrambi i lati, nessun gioco. Per utilizzare al meglio il rasoio è necessario effettuare diverse rasature; Non dovrete premere sulla pelle, il peso del rasoio svolgerà tutto il lavoro, evitandovi irritazioni. L'angolo in cui terrete il rasoio influirà su tagli/irritazioni. Essendo mediamente aggressivo, è possibile fare anche 3 passate senza problemi. Per massimizzare la scorrevolezza, sarebbe opportuno utilizzare un sapone/crema dedicata e non prodotti in lattina e soprattutto, cambiare lametta ogni 4/5 rasature. Inclusa in confezione, una lama di marca Muhle. Si consiglia ogni tot di spruzzare del lubrificante nel meccanismo di avvitamento del rasoio, in modo che risulti sempre efficiente.

Even though it can not be compared to Rockwell 6C, this is a good razor for daily or alternate day shaving. Irritation free and BBS smooth shaver. I feel the tightening screw at the bottom of the razor makes a scratchy sound. I doubt whether this screw mechanism will last longer.

Hallo liebe Leser, ich habe über 25 Jahre elektrisch rasiert und für andere Körperbereiche außer Gesicht, Systemnassrasierer verwendet. Irgendwann bin ich bei Youtube mal auf Videos gestoßen wie man nachhaltiger Ressourcen nutzt und (Plastik-)Müll vermeidet. Darüber bin ich dann auf den Rasierhobel aufmerksam geworden. Einige "Shaving-Videos" später habe ich mich dann entschieden, den Mühle Twist Rasierhobel (mit Astra Rasierklingen Superior Platinum) zu bestellen. Die erste Rasur brauchte viel Zeit und war erfreulicherweise nur etwas blutig. Aber das Gefühl war ein hammermäßig. So wunderbar sanft und glatt. Den Elektro-Rasierer habe ich etwa nach 2 Wochen in den Schrank verbannt, da er keine wertige Option mehr darstellt. Inzwischen rasiere ich mich seit über 3 Monaten ausschließlich mit dem Rasierhobel und möchte nichts anderes mehr. Die Rasur gelingt zügig und ohne Wunden (und funktioniert auch an allen anderen Stellen des Körpers supi). Es braucht letztendlich ein wenig Übung um das richtige Gefühl für das Handling zu bekommen. Auf Youtube gibt es genug "alte Hasen", von denen man diesbezüglich viel lernen kann. Wenn mich jemand fragen würde: Ich kann die Rasur mit einem Rasierhobel wärmstens empfehlen. Mir ist übrigens bei der 2. Rasur der Hobel aus den seifigen Händen geglitten und etwa aus 120cm Höhe auf die Fließen gefallen. Er hat es unbeschadet und gottseidank ohne eine erkennbare Macken überstanden :-) Qualität passt! Pro: - sehr langlebig - nachhaltig - kein Plastikmüll - überzeugendes Ergebnis (sanft und glatt wie ein Babypopo) - Rasur "Erlebnis" -> Rasieren ist kein lediges muss mehr, sondern wird zelebriert :-) Es bleibt nach dem Rasieren das gute Gefühl, dass man damit keinen Plastikmüll verursacht hat und (wenn keiner guckt) streichele ich mich öfter selbst an den Wangen und finde auch nach über 3 Monaten die Entscheidung für den Hobel immer noch "saugeil" ^^ Contra: - "Anschaffungspreis" (naja... aber das amortisiert sich ja) - dauert doch ein paar Minuten länger als elektrische Rasur

Me gusto su peso y su tamaño, no conozco otras “máquinas” similares pero me costo trabajo hacer el recorte de barba como me gusta. Definitivamente me agrada que sea más ecológico que los “rastrillos” y navajas deshechables.

Qualité est le premier adjectif qui vient lorsque l'on parle de ce rasoir. Il est beau et le fait de l'avoir bien en main facilite les gestes du rasage. C'est un achat à conseiller à tous les puristes.
