I bought this lamp for crafting and reading. The mechanical parts work OK if a bit clunky but it does stay in the position it's put in without dropping. The stand is just the right height for my desk or armchair and the weight in the base keeps it stable. I haven't tried the desk clamp but it looks sturdy enough. The magnification is good and the light is bright enough at its highest setting. The light itself is comprised of 36 LED bulbs. I know they last a long time but I do wonder about getting replacements. The USB cable is approximately 4' 6" in length and carries the switch. I think the switch could be a weak point. I've had devices with similar and they seem to be the first thing to fail. Overall I'd say it is good for the price.Update.I bought this less than four months ago. The pin on the lamps arm that fits into the stand has sheared off rendering the lamp unusable. Its made of thin mild steel and was to weak to stand up to everyday use.I withdraw all stars. Do not buy it's not fit for purpose!

The lamp is perfect, exactly as described, perfectly packed & delivered on time.

This is a good magnifying lamp, ideal to use at half height, perfect for hand sewing. BUT the bendy arm moves about from side to side because the screw hole attaching it to the stem is too big. How can this be corrected, please?

I bought this on the suggestion of someone who said that it might help with my daughters dyslexia. She finds it hard to focus on pages, esp smaller font size. She would find the that letters would jumble up on the page and she would struggle to focus on sentences. Using the magnifier helps her to narrow down sections which are then easier to focus on. We'd previously tried colour overlays and even coloured paper, but this isn't always practical, esp in a classroom environment and with lots going on. The light/magnifier has def made a difference and something that I wouldn't have thought of trying before. Hope this might help others who also struggle, it's def worth a try.

Nothing like it looks in the pics. Bought it for my wife's birthday but turned out to be a huge disappointment. The base was the only decent bit of it. The rest was flimsy screw together monkey metal. After 1 day of use the magnifier(which in the pic looks the size of the old boys face)started flopping around & constantly spinning, which meant after a while, the wire would fray & break.My advice? Put some extra cash towards something decent.Won't use buyer again.

I bought this magnifier floor lamp for doing cross stitch. It has a very nice bright light and I can move it around into any position I want. It is quite sturdy and has a large square solid base. It only comes with a usb wire so be aware you may need to have a suitable plug handy. Very happy with purchase.
