Exactly what we needed
We got this primarily to save on heating bills, but also because I'm from a temperate zone and my wife is from the tropics. In most temperatures, either she is cold or I am hot. In addition to the king-sized one, our family has also used one twin- and one queen-size version of this product over the past few years. The queen and king have separate controllers for each side, so I can keep side of the bed comfortable while my wife keeps hers ridiculously warm. We can keep the house significantly cooler at night while using this, so it saves on gas costs. According to my Kill-A-Watt, each side (of the king-sized version) draws about 80 watts of power when on the highest heat setting. It's about the same as the queen-sized one, although I suspect that is because the king-sized version does not heat under the pillow area while our (older) queen-sized one did, so the heated area is about the same. I did not check whether it draws less power as it heats up to its target temperature. Regardless, the electricity cost is small compared to what we save on heating bills. The embedded heating wires are so small you will not feel them at all, so it is comfortable to sleep on. We don't even bother to remove it in the summer except to wash it. Speaking of which, it is machine washable. However, we rarely wash it out of concern that it will eventually get destroyed by the machines (no matter what the company says). So far it hasn't. Be sure to follow the washing instructions very carefully. Anyway, it goes under the sheets to it stays pretty clean. This is a slow, low-power heating pad. It takes half an hour or so to warm up a cold bed, but once it's warm, it's very warm. Unless you keep your house very cold at night or use very thin blankets, you'll probably wake up sweating if you leave this thing on high. The heating pad turns itself off after about 10 hours. You can not change this setting, and if you unplug it and plug it in again, it turns off. While these are good safety features, but I wish it had a setting to start on on when plugged in - that way I could hook it up to an external timer and have it pre-warm the bed in winter automatically. Ah well. Overall, this is a good implementation of an excellent idea.

HEAVENLY!!!
I keep telling my husband that this is the best purchase I made in all of 2012! I just moved to Colorado from California - ok, you understand. My bed was FREEZING to climb into. Many years ago I had a waterbed and the warmth is what I miss the most. Now I have a warm cozy bed to slip into. I do have to remember to turn it on at least a half hour before going to bed to get the warmth to radiate through the rest of the sheets and blankets (which it does!). I agree with another reviewer - they should be programmable, but haven't seen that yet. I was nervous about the purchase since so many people said they heard a hum and hums drive me crazy at night, I am a very light sleeper. Also, I have that super sensitive hearing, I hear the high pitched alarms in stores like Nordstroms so I won't go in but I hear NO noise from the transformer or anything on this heated mattress pad. I put it under our other mattress pad because I was afraid of feeling the wires and I feel NO wires and it heats just fine. Such a great purchase not sure why another one would be $179, I bought this one at $99! Can't imagine it any better unless it had the program feature or if it quits soon I will put in an update. UPDATE!!! I NOW HAVE 3 of these warming mattress pads! I now live in Nevada which is not as cold as Colorado, but still cold in the winters. The original still works like new and I bought one for my guest room, my guests love it and I bought one for my bed at my daughters home in Carmichael, CA and I love it there too. I will soon purchase one for my motorhome too! Still one of the best purchases I have ever made and none of them make any sounds.

Updated Model! Much heavier Controller Plugs (Pics)
This is my second one of these. My last one I got in 2012 so pretty decent lifespan compared to other electric devices like this I've had. I did not have the Connector on the Pad get burned, or discolor, or anything like that. The controller on one side simply stopped working and after so many years of service, I was ready to get a fresh new one. Still, I was a little wary when I saw the pics of burnt connectors here in the reviews, so I was delighted when I saw that the new model has been upgraded to much beefier connectors with thicker insulation and strain relief where the Controller connects to the Mattress Pad. So Kudos to them for retooling that part and addressing the problem. Now that we've covered the elephant in the room, I have to say, these are the BEST Mattress Pads ever! I tried the Sunbeams and they lasted about one year. These are high quality and provide a LOT of warmth. We live in Sunny California so my wife and I keep ours on the Lowest setting (LO) and it's perfect for us. So if you live in a colder climate there's plenty of range left to suit you. The best thing is the wires are undetectable. Other Pads have thick wires in them that you can feel through the sheet. Overall, I couldn't be happier with it. I would highly recommend it for it's safer low voltage, the undetectable wires, and for how reliable they are.

I don't know what is up with this company.
I had a heated mattress pad from this company for many years and it worked perfectly. After 6 years the pad finally died and I decided to purchase the same product. I ordered and received a new pad from Amazon and out of the box the pad would not heat at all. I returned it to Amazon and received a refund in the form of a gift card. I felt this pad's defect was probably unusual so after great thought, I reordered the same pad. After connecting the new pad I discovered one of the controllers was faulty. I would turn it on and in 5 seconds it would turn off. I tried switching sides and the faulty controller would not work on the other side, but the good controller would work perfectly on either side. Instead of returning the pad to Amazon a second time, I attempted to contact the company on their 800 number. The company's "mailbox" was full. I called the company each day for a week with the same results--"full mailbox, try again". I have also emailed the company and they have not responded. At this point I must give the product NO stars for customer service as well as questionable quality control. I am highly disappointed because the mattress pad is really comfortable and works well if you can get it to work. I have decided to give the company a few more days to respond and then I will probably return it to Amazon AGAIN and choose a different heated mattress pad. I will keep you updated.

Beautiful Product...Cheaply Made :-(
I really hate giving this 3 stars because I actually LOVE this product. I'm always cold and I think this is the greatest thing since sliced bread; in the winter, it literally can be the highlight of my day! We usually turn it on high a couple of hours before bed so when we actually do go to bed it's sooo warm and toasty. I can't even begin to explain how much this simple product has changed my life. I was diagnosed with Reynaud's Syndrome years ago which just means I have painfully cold extremities almost ALL.THE.TIME, even in the summer. Who knew a heated mattress pad could have such impact but it did and it does...I've already told my husband to bury me with it. :-) Now for the bad news, this is our 3rd pad in about 10 years. The 1st one lasted about 6 years, the 2nd one lasted about 3 years and this last one has lasted less than 1 year. Ours is king size which means it has 2 controllers and it never fails that one side will just stop working. My side stopped working on the 1st two pads (presumably because I turn it on almost every night even during the summer) and this time it was my husband's side (thank God my side still works!). The warranty is good for 5 years so I called the customer service number just now; the whole thing is automated and it put me on hold for about a minute or so then it came back on and told me to leave my name and a number and they'd call me back in the order in which my call was received. So, I did the only thing I could do - left my name and number and will play the waiting game; they indicated that I should give them 24 hours to respond so that's what I'll do. I'll update with the results. Oh, just to add: I saw a couple of other reviews about the controllers being loud? We've never had that problem in ANY of our pads; they've always been whisper quiet. And we've always gone with the Soft Heat pads because you can't feel the wires at all and in my opinion is the BEST (and by best I mean highest quality) heated mattress pad out there...which is why it's such a shame that the same problem keeps happening. 4/19/2017 UPDATE: So, after playing phone tag for 2 weeks I finally got a hold of them. And just FYI, each time I called and was directed to the customer service dept., the phone rang 3-5 times then automatically went to voice mail telling me to leave a name and number and they'd return my call. I always received a call-back roughly 2 days later and always after 5 pm (EST). I spoke with Jasmine on the phone who asked me the basic info on the product (model number, size, etc) then asked whether or not I knew if it was the controller or the actual pad that was out. I told her I thought it was the controller because it doesn't even turn on anymore. She then proceeded to tell me that they currently didn't have any in stock and that I would have to call back in 2 weeks in order for them to ship me a new one. Seriously? That's just pitiful. Why not just mail me a new one when you get them in stock? She indicated that their system wouldn't recognize it and it would just get shipped back to them. Huh? Oookkkkay, fine. I then asked her if she had a definite date as to when they would have them in stock but she was didn't know...I guess the system doesn't recognize dates either. Lame. Now I'm wondering if "2 weeks" is their standard answer for everything...and the fact that I have to be the one to initiate the order and go through this painfully slow process all over again is just so woefully lacking in a customer service dept. In honor of the "2 weeks" I have to wait to do this all over again, I'm dropping my stars down to 2. Stay tuned...

great fit - warmth - but deficient heating control dial...
fits the mattress/bed perfectly as promised and is perfect to heat the bed before getting into it - so comfy. extremely important to have dual control so each side of the bed can be heated at different temperature. however, one of the 2 'heating' control dial stopped working after 1 day! received the replacement mattress yesterday and the new heating control box made in Thailand is twice as big as the previous one made in China. one of the new heating control dial does not seem to work properly out of the box...

Absolutely wonderful
I don't know how well this will last. It might fail soon and I'll be unhappy. However, in my first day (night) of ownership I think it's fabulous. I had trouble getting it delivered because the Amazon driver could not find the door to my high-rise... Anyway after getting hold of Amazon customer service by phone, the issue was resolved and I received the product the same day. The electric warmer for my king sized mattress comes with 2 separate controls. Look at it and find them so you can install it properly oriented. I didn't and had to re make the bed. No big deal, but anyway I got it done. I have a comforter that is too heavy and warm and could not use it, a friend made a brilliant suggestion, put it on top of the mattress... I did that, I have a Tempurpedic Mattress and they tend to get really cold and hard when the room temperature is low (I keep it at 68 or so degrees in the winter) this is a big downfall of these memory foam mattresses. Anyway, I put the synthetic fiber comforter over the mattress and placed the mattress heater over both. Made my bed as usual and last night I turned on the heater... The bed was nice and warm, not too hot by any means. The comforter over the foam mattress made it feel like the beds of a luxury hotel. I had one of the best nights of sleep in a long time and stayed in bed well into the morning ;). So far so good, I don't know how this will work over time, but the initial impression is extremely favorable. My sleeping comfort has been greatly improved. I give it 5 stars so far....

Good heat, tiny wires, but it won't stay in place and the plug stabs you.
This thing puts off awesome heat, and I can't feel the wires as compared to the biddford model we had before it. That being said, this could REALLY use some grippy material on the back of it. We have an adjustable sleep number bed and have adopted a nightly ritual of redoing the sheets and electric pad because they've slipped right off the top. Also, as other reviewers noted the instructions to the pad indicate that you should orient the pad plugs toward the head of the bed, but while the graphic in the manual shows that the plug is on the side edge of the mattress at the top, it's not... it's on the top, like where your hand goes if you put your arm under your pillow like many people do, and that plug is SHARP. Every time it scratches my hand I vow I'm going to file it's edges down with a nail file, but I haven't out of sheer laziness. We've had this for over 3 months and have NOT experienced the high pitched whine from the adapter box that others have, thank goodness. I was, however spoiled by the biddford's auto-off feature if it detected your body missing for more than 20 min. I have to remind myself to turn this off after a nap, or it will stay on for a full 10ish hours before this model auto turns off. I guess in summary, I'm happy it works, I'm happy I can't feel the wires. I wish it had grippy stuff to keep it in place on the mattress, and that the plug was where the manual said it was, but not enough that I'm willing to give it up.
