Disappointed with the Condition – Open Box and Screen Issues
I was really excited to receive my Atomos Ninja Ultra, but unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. Upon arrival, the box was already opened, which immediately raised concerns. To make matters worse, the screen had visible bubbles underneath, making it look like either a returned or poorly handled product. For a premium device at this price point, I expected flawless quality right out of the box. Instead, I’m left wondering whether this was sold as new or if it went through poor quality control. If you’re investing in a product like this, the unboxing experience and build quality are crucial – and sadly, this fell short. I would not recommend purchasing this unless Atomos and the seller can ensure proper packaging and product integrity.

The perfect monitor recorder….except….
This is an amazing evolution of the Ninja V. However it does not have Wifi, Bluetooth, or a USB C port for some reason. So you MUST get the connect device. To even do a firmware update, you need to plug the SSD into your computer and transfer the firmware files. This also means that you can’t use it to control your camera like you can on the Shinobi (which is ½ the price!) seems like a massive miss, or a means to force you to get the connect device. So I hesitate to say it’s really “Ultra”. Just “plus.” If you want to get to ultra, you’re going to have to buy more things for it.

I've been through 2 and support is no help. Nothing records from HDMI or SDI any codec or camera output. Multiple drives, reboots, latest firmware, you name it. Nothing works literally here. So I guess buy if you enjoy owning a reaaaaaaaly expensive monitor that can't record anything.

It's a great product, however, it requires checking the manual before using it properly. I bought it with a bunch of accessories. The main purpose was to record ProRes 422 on SSD with proxies. Please note some things, it will not record on an SSD if you have turned on the C2C Client ( Camera to Cloud) Also, it will not record on the media if you set the wrong codec, for example, if the camera is not outputting ProRes RAW as a signal and you choose it, it will not record on SSD. YOu have to choose the right codecs. Other than that it works perfectly well. If you add atomos connect it gets SDI In and C2C capabilities. I am planning to get a couple more for my production company.

Disappointed that this doesn't support 8K ProRes through the HDMI connection on my Z9. They should be more clear about what the device does and does not support. Otherwise, it is an excellent device.

Le Ninja Ultra est un vrai plaisir à utiliser. L’écran est lumineux, précis, et la qualité d’enregistrement est au top. L’interface est fluide, la réactivité excellente, et les formats ProRes sont gérés sans souci. Je l’utilise régulièrement en tournage, et c’est un outil indispensable pour vérifier mes images et enregistrer proprement. Petit bémol : il chauffe un peu sur les longues sessions, mais rien de gênant. Globalement, un produit que j’adore et que je recommande sans hésiter.

La pantalla en si misma se siente un poco pequeña, si te cuesta ver bien para hacer enfoque, tal vez mejor sea la versión de 7 pulgadas. Lo que no esperaba que llegase a calentar tanto. Pero bueno, todo sea por tener la mejor la calidad con ProRes Raw. Si no lo necesitas, tal vez me iría a otra marca que no se caliente tanto. De cualquier forma es un buen producto.

I think the quality of the display is one of the best, however the functionality of having to use their proprietary SSD that is very hard to find useful at all, and in fact renders the device unable to display RAW footage, is a big drawback. I think if they sold with with their SSD as required this would be so much better. Tried for months to buy one on amazon, two different sellers failed to deliver, now I am stuck holding the bag paying for shipping and this and that and losing all around. Very decent, would not recommend unless you know that you can get the ssd and have no issues with expensive gear. Still waiting fort refund weeks later...
