I have no room to mount on top.** A: No, It is not resistant to the impact of waves. Check out the PTR 350 that is designed to go between pontoons. You can mount motor and rop guide bracket separately distance up too the installer **Q: What's the difference between the Deckhand 40 and the pontoon Deckhand?** A: Mine is mounted on the bow of my boat, but it can be mounted on a pontoon boat also. I had to modify the bow of my alumacraft 12 footer to fit the base plate of the Minnkota anchor assembly. It was fairly easy to modify. I used 8 gauge insulated wires so it would have enough current to be operated. I sit in the back and operate it. It can be operated from the unit too. I also have Minnesota 55 lb thrust electric motor hooked up to the same deep cycle marine battery. I think these two anchor systems look the same. You can always call Minnkota. Mine takes a minimum weight anchor of 25 pounds. Anything lighter won't work. I fish in lakes that can be quite deep and manual anchor deployment and retrieval is out of the question. These wenches take all of the work out of it and allow me to move around and re-anchor with little effort. No issues with operation so far.
