This Starkist smart bowl is a product of Ecuador. I would say this is snack sized considering there are only 170 calories in a packet. It's meant to either be eaten straight out of the pouch or heated up in a bowl. I prefer my food hot so I put it in for only 25 seconds since I was worried about making the office smell like fish. It was lukewarm at that point, but better than completely room temperature in my opinion. There's a good balance of rice, beans, and tuna. It's slightly spicy and very tolerable for someone with low spice tolerance like me. I like the hint of lime as it gives it a nice acidity. Salt level is perfect for me. Overall, it's a quick and tasty snack when you're at work. A bit overpriced for what it is as there are only 3 pouches in this set.

The Starkist Smart Bowl, Spicy Pepper Rice & Beans Tuna is a healthy meal in a pouch. It can be eaten directly from the pouch, or its contents may be heated in a bowl. Each pouch has only 170 calories, 11 grams of protein, and 4 grams of fiber.When I opened the pouch, I was not sure I could eat its contents as to me it was visually unappealing (see pictures). However, I love tuna, rice, and bean, so I gave it a try and WOW I sure glad I did as it was Delicious! Its ingredients really work together, and the spiciness just add another level. The pouches do not need to be refrigerated, so they are super convenient and the plastic color changing spoons are a cool addition; however, there are three pouches and only two spoons included. Overall, a healthy and tasty meal that are great when I am on the go.*Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to sample the Starkist Smart Bowls ~ I recommend them!*Above are my personal observations and opinions. I have actually had a similar product to this before so I sort of knew (at least somewhat) what to expect with this. The ingredients - corn, white beans, quinoa and tuna (along with the added flavors) are an unusual combination and to be honest, isn’t something that - on first thinking about it - comes across as a good combination. I have to say, whoever came up with the combination is an absolute genius! The combined flavors - just… work… somehow. In my opinion, it is one of those rare circumstances where the combination is better than the sum of its parts. The previous product that I tried was canned and used lentils rather than white beans, and also had quite a bit of oil making it a very ‘fat’ product (although it tasted GREAT!). This is much healthier and lighter tasting… the lime and cilantro (“Latin Citrus”) adds a tangy and light flavor to the four main ingredients. Unless there is an ingredient that you specifically don’t like, from my standpoint the combination is a winner and is very different than what you might ordinarily think of a tuna dish.

One of these is pretty much on the snack size of these being only 170 calories. I was kind of worried about the taste would be with Tuna and other ingredients in a pouch like this. But I did as it said and put it in a bowl and 30 seconds in a microwave and it was not bad at all. I did get mild tuna flavors with the rice and beans overall. There was a mild spice to it but nothing major. Overall a surprisingly good snack option.

I really enjoyed this Starkist Smart Bowl with spicy pepper rice and beans tuna. It has a nice balance of flavors, textures, and nutrition. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or snack when you don’t have time to cook or heat anything. Super convenient since you can pack and it eat it without heating. Be aware that if you do want to heat it, you need to put it into a bowl because it says you cannot microwave the pouch. I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to anyone who likes tuna with a slight kick.

Really like the flavor and texture combo of these! Quite tasty and perfect for a quick lunch/snack. Will be buying more!
