Ticks all the boxes
This transformer replaces a 12 year old Malibu 600w transformer installed outdoors and is far superior in every way. It is supporting 2 circuits of less than 100 ft. each with 10 – 2w led lamps on each circuit. Thoughts which one might find useful: • Bullet point description states 70% max load, however the label on the transformer indicates it can be used at 100% (see photo) • Knockouts are properly sized for three standard conduit sizes. If conduit is not being used, then one can simply secure the wire(s) entering the transformer box using a knockout fitting (pictured is what I used) which can be found at most hardware stores. This keeps the cable tight and covers the knockout opening. • Since I wanted to control the transformer with my smartphone I installed a wifi smart plug in the outlet designed for a timer located inside the box. If the wifi signal to the smart plug is too weak, installing a smart outlet outside of the box might be a solution. • The circuits, both load and length, are such that I am only using the 12v tap. • The downloadable user manual under Technical Specifications includes a formula for approximating voltage drop. This transformer has been operating for about a month and so far has exceeded my expectations for ease of installation, quality, design, function and price.

Great unit with room for slight engineering improvements
I really like this unit. It is well-made and the stainless housing is not magnetic, so it is made of a SS alloy that will not rust (BTW: a great test for SS grills, also). The integrated analogue timer is a convenient feature. Although I would not hesitate to recommend buying one, I do have two recommendations for engineering improvements. The first is the terminal block, it could be "beefed up" for heavier gauge wire. I had a difficult time stuffing 2 X 12 gauge wires into the block. However, I did not have a problem with the screws stripping out as another reviewer noted. The second issue is the design of the knock-out holes. If using conduit, the rear two knock-outs are almost useless because the openings are vey close to the bottom of the internal transformer housing. I suppose they could be used for push-in plastic wire grommets for romex or line cord, but if the housing was made about 1" longer, there would be no problem using these rear knock-out holes for conduit or 1/2" romex strain relief connectors. The blanking plugs for the knock-outs also tend to separate at the 3/4" opening size. Again, I am very happy with the unit and would purchase it again. The two aforementioned issues fall more into the annoyance category, rather than deal-breakers. Update: I just installed a second one of these units and, within the limitations described in my original review, very happy with its design and performance.

Great value, durable, works well
Durable, well-constructed outdoor transformer. The multiple voltage taps (12V,13V,14V,15V) are great for accommodating voltage drop over very long runs. I'm using this transformer to power 23 fixtures with 3W 12V LED bulbs and 14/2 direct burial stranded copper landscape wire. Using the multiple taps to support three different runs, the voltage at each fixture is measuring between 11.5V and 12.5V. The longest run is 150 ft with 11 fixtures. The voltage taps can accommodate more than one wire. For example, the common can support the conductors for all three runs. You can also use a wire nut to combine multiple wires in the box and use a single pigtail to the taps from the wire nut. This is an AC transformer, if you are using LED bulbs make sure they are designed for use with an AC power supply. Also purchased an Intermatic DT620 timer for use in the box to turn the lights on at dusk and turn off at midnight without using the optional photocell. The photocell can only support turning the lights on at dusk and turn off at dawn (didn't need the lights on for all those hours).

Nice and quiet, excellent with a Wemo plug to automate
I have this setup in my garage. This unit is replacing two worn out Malibu transformers. The Lightkiwi is almost silent in operation with only a faint hum when on. A huge improvement over the constant plastic gear noise from the Malibu mechanical timers. The stainless housing looks great and is secure when mounted to the wall. The unit does not get hot when in use. I chose to not use a photo cell and instead added a Wemo smart plug to use with my HomeKit automation. The Wemo plug was slightly to large to fit in the available outlet inside the Lightkiwi unit (not enough door clearance) so I used a very short flat plug extension cord to connect the Wemo which was then tucked up inside. This setup worked well. Since the DIN rail connecters allow one wire per terminal to connect, I have my multiple low voltage wires going to a couple of bus bars and then just two conductors going to the Lightkiwi (one to the comm and the other to the 12v). Very happy with this unit and glad to be finally rid of lousy mechanical timers and able to control landscape lighting with home automation.

Well built
It's very well built. Weighs a ton. Plenty of room for a timer. I use an astronomic timer for my landscape lighting. I installed it into a brick wall. The little anchors that come with it won't hold it. I used lag shields and lag bolt.

It has been a cold half year using this, enduring -30 Celsius for several weeks in the winter. This thing looks exactly like the one sold in SiteOne for 1200 CAD. It must be a OEM product. It works very well and I am happy made the right decision.

Looks to be well built and has substantial weight to it. Was easy to install. I am using it with a smart plug so didn't go with a timer or photocell. Works well so far.
