This is an ingenious and simple tape measure that is particularly easy to use. Once the free end of the tape is extended around the body part of interest and inserted into its notched holder, a simple button press will apply just enough tension to take up any slack in a consistent and repeatable manner. Then and pressing the ‘Eject’ button, releases this free end of the tape, keeping its exact length in place, and the measurement can then be read. The accuracy of these circumference measurements can quickly be verified by using any available cylinder a few inches or larger in diameter. Simply measure its diameter (either in inches or cm) as accurately as possible then multiply this value by pi (or 3.14); this will be the exact circumference of the cylinder. Now use the Reidea tape to measure the same circumference and compare values. They should be virtually identical. Further, problems of the tape’s free end hook breaking off can easily be prevented by simply holding the free end of the tape while it’s being retracted – simply, just don’t let this free end, uncontrollably, retract into its case at full speed. Most of these complaints of breakage, I strongly suspect, are user-related errors and not design flaws with this device.

Works good. Good quality. Retraction is still retracting well. Priced right.

Edit 3: While the outer band has been changed to indicate inches versus cm/mm as it previously did and no longer offers accurate measurements for what I am seeking in my profession, the unit itself still offers great ease of use and is very fast and efficient for measuring. The design is very helpful in getting around all body parts. The retractable button makes storage and ease of use even more pleasant. I am thus changing my 2nd edit review to 4 stars as it does still offer the same ease of use even if it does not offer cm/mm on the outer band and I was very pleased with not only my first initial order (that I have used into oblivion), but am also very pleased with the customer service remedy attempts. The company offering this product may not offer what I am seeking, but does offer great customer service and that alone speaks volumes. Edit: 2nd order: I had to order another one as the first one started to tear along the edge where the fastener is. It eventually ripped completely, leaving the measuring tape useless. I understand that nothing last forever and this review edit has nothing to do with the longevity of the product, but rather the change/inconsistency. As stated in my first review, I originally ordered this as it indicated cm/mm on the outer band, which is what I use exclusively. The new one I ordered has inches on the outer band making the ease of seeing the exact mm very difficult. It is very disappointing to have to roughly guess where from an 8th of an inch you measured, flip around and get the cm/mm measurement. I am a personal trainer, where size matters. I do not like guessing on something that my clients have worked hard for. I hope this is corrected and that the cm/mm band will be and remain on the outer portion for the most accurate measurement. Original review: I purposely ordered this product as in the picture it indicates that the outer measurements are in centimeters versus inches. No offense to the American units of measure, but that unit of measure does not work for me. I prefer centimeters (like the rest of the world). This product is absolutely wonderful, easy to read and use. The clip knob does come unhooked too easily which is probably my only quarrel. That part could be a little more tighter to not slide back out so easily. To make the product even better the opening should be ambidextrous, allowing hooking from either side, as well as the retract button (perhaps on the side)....however, for the cost, I am not asking for a reinvention, it’s great for the cost.

Body measuring tape is a must have

This is a nifty little measuring tape. I like how you can use it regularly or lock it in to tighten as needed. This is going to come in handy for sewing projects and ordering clothes.

The slot that the "retaining" element at the end of the tape is supposed to fit into is substantially larger than the element itself. Enough so that just a minor wiggle while measuring will cause it fall out. It's not an expensive product, and it still fulfills its purpose well enough, but maybe include a snap-in mechanism (like a pen cap snaps on to a pen) for a snug fit. It can be very annoying to use.

This is a staple in my waist loss journey. This helps me stay on top of my waist size or any size from any part of your body really... it is so lightweight and small and can be kept in your purse or gym bag. Such a pretty pink color and easy to use.

Good but delayed really and not arrived as promised

Works well for the cost. The tape part falls out of the slot sometimes when measuring so that's kind of annoying. The retraction part is a little loose but for the price it works really well.

This is a great measuring tool- was a little concerned that some other reviews had said there was some issues with the eject button. I have found this great and been using regularly to measure myself and had no issues what's so ever. It's so much easier than using a regular tape to ensure accurate measurements!

I find that a regular tape measure works as well too.

I bought it to get measurements on clients, and it really help me made my life easier.
