The popcorn maker is still going strong. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great popcorn with a few caveats *by N***D on July 6, 2025* Our faithful OR Presto popper wouldn't turn on one day, so I needed a replacement ASAP. In the meantime, I made a horrible batch of popcorn on the stove. I really did need a new popper fast. It wasn't in stock at Walmart, and Amazon had better pricing anyway. I was going to get an exact replacement, but I always wished that it had an on/off switch instead of having to pull out the cord with the power still on. Then I saw this one, which had the switch and had the same capacity as my old popper, but it was under $30 instead of over $40. It just made sense to give it a try. The first one came, and I instantly got the impression that it was a return. After opening, I found that there were scratches and scuffs on the cover/bowl and the base and the cook plate was rough like there was something off with the coating and had a few scratches. I ordered a replacement, which was much better than the first order. I washed the lid/bowl with soapy water like the manual says to, but for the plate, I used a wet soapy rag and then wiped with a wet rag without soap. After drying, I applied a thin layer of coconut oil and then heated the plate empty for a minute or two just to make sure there wasn't any residue left over. It had no bad smells or smoking during that process. I then made my first batch with 3/4 cup of kernels and 3 TBLS of oil. The kernel stirrer was turning, but it was too high to actually come in contact with the kernels. I just gently bent it with my hands until it was properly stirring. After popping, I chose to transfer to a separate bowl while dusting with buttery popcorn salt. There were only 5 or so unopened kernels and no burnt taste or sogginess.
