Perfect player, not so great recorder
Honest opinion, great. Yes it’s the same mechanism as the cheap players but it’s fully speced up. Metal fly wheel, metal plating throughout, stereo head, playback is excellent though there is a hiss on the output I’m yet to find a tape player that doesn’t have this even vintage 80s and 90s players have a hiss and for me it’s nostalgic having that easily audible hiss between tracks and I love it for what it is. Playback on pre recorded cassettes is perfect. I’ve listened to several cassettes from Madonna like a virgin being the oldest and Arctic Monkeys latest album from a couple of years back and all plays great. Recording is the biggest downfall, recording to a brand new Maxell cassette the entire recording is filled with small sections that seem to have a warbling on higher pitch tones. I haven’t tried with an older or type 2 or 4 tape but it leaves recorded tapes as barely listenable. So would advise against buying it if you want to record your own mix tapes like the good old days Battery life is great, rechargeable battery is a welcome touch and I haven’t tried the Bluetooth as I have a great pair of wired headphones which are far better and should give better battery life than maintaining a wireless connection Auto stop on play/record but no auto stop on rewind or fast forward which is a minor niggle but my childhood player had no auto stop at all and only had a fast forward and couldn’t rewind so it’s still an improvement on budget 90s players Would recommend to anyone wanting to listen to old and new cassettes Wouldn’t recommend to people wanting to record their own tapes But I bought it just as a player for on the go to relive those old days and listen to albums sounding the way they did when I was a kid and for that it’s definitely a 5 star purchase.

Pure Nostalgia, in a solid metal case
This is wonderful! I'm 47, and grew up with Walkmans the first time round. Recently, I've been feeling a little nostalgic about music. I went through rebuilding my vinyl collection a few year back, but had forgetter the humble cassette until more recently, when I was craving something portable. Portable cassette players peaked in the late 1990s. In truth, they were smaller, and possibly more capable than this. We are rewind are the first to admit that the cassette mechanisms which shrunk to the size of only a little more than the cassette are no longer in production. So we are left with a larger mechanism, which puts this on par (in size) with the very first Sony TPS-L2 from the late 1970s. But size isn't what this is about. It's pure nostalgia. It's built like a tank - its metal case is sturdy and has some weight to it. Bluetooth is a nice touch, and works very well, but I've got my Hifiman Sundara over ear, studio headphones plugged into it and I'm listening to the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix 2 as I type this and I'm straight back in the 1990s This isn't a product for audiophiles. But if you want a solid player (and recorder) that's well built and sounds every bit as good as your walkman when you were a kid, then this might just be for you. The pencil in the case was a nice touch too (if you know, you know....) Buy it because it will make you smile. I promise.

The nearest you are going to get to a decent cassette player.
Everyone know that there is only one company still making cassette mechanisms. This has it (because if that is all they can get then they are pretty much stuck with it). However they have specked it up to the max. This sounds decent. It is no Nachamichi Dragon but it it probably the best you are going to get in 2025. It also has Bluetooth so you can pair it to your headphones/speakers and the build quality is solid. Definitely not a plastic piece of rubbish. Is it worth the money, probably not but is it by far the best attempt at a decent tape player/recorder in the last 5 years then definitely. You can spend your money on much worse.

Pricey but… worth it!
£130… for a cassette player/recorder?? Well I bought it and… I like it! Well built, feels solid. The lid is a little tricky to open. Bluetooth to connect headphones is a total win. I personally love this product because it has a line in and headphones out so I can send audio to tape and record it back in my studio. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is a microphone, so I could record voice memos. The box is really nicely designed too. If you love cassettes and have a bit of spare bob this month. Go for it!

looks over substance, poor quality overpriced product
I have owned this two months, never dropped it, looked after it carefully. The bluetooth has never worked properly and the door has fallen off. I have not even used it that much, really not fit for purpose. The company seem to be more concerned about looks than actually making a decent product. Also, just to be clear, the whole body is not metal, the bit with the logo on is a plastic panel.

Rattle & Humm
For the price you’d expect a good listening experience, the player has humming from the mechanism not great for a 21sr Century tape player drove me crazy. Imagine being on a bus with a strange humming. Not worth £125 - started a refund straight away.
