This is the best thickener we have used for preparing liquids for my Dad after his stroke. The instructions on the container to make either honey or nectar consistency are good and there is no taste. We use a small whisk to mix the powder into the drink and the liquid is perfectly clear and ready to use with juices, tea, coffee or milk.

Lumps begin to form when you add (especially to room temp liquids) when you reach a consistency less than nectar. We need a little thicker than nectar for my Mother. The lumps are a problem. I have figured out that if I use the blender the lumps do not form. Just a FYI. This product does not leave granules behind like some others. We are currently trying a different product that comes liquid that pumps from a gallon size container. It is much more expensive and will most likely not be one we use a lot. With the blender method, this product seems to work the best for the price.

It's as close to tasteless as one could wish, but I still can't get Mom to drink thickened liquids no matter what I do, darn it.

I have been using Thick-It for my wife's drinks. Large container has 3,600 calories per the Thick-it label. That container lasts her abour 6 days, meaning she consumes 600 calories per day JUST from Thick-it alone. I ordered Altrix Rapid Thickener in hopes of reducing that calorie consumption, but the label offers no clue other than 'low calorie'. We did purchase a Portable Mini Drink Mixer. It is a small, battery handheld mixer to aid in mixing Altrix with Coffee or Water. I start the Mini Mixer in the liquid THEN add the Altrix powder into the little vortex the spinning mixer creates. Works perfectly to mix the contents. I am ordering more Altrix but I still seek Calorie information. The label does show it has 55kJ (kilojoules), a unit of energy of which few people understand. Research show 1kJ=0.2 Calories so 55kJ = 11 calories per scoop. I keep a 60 oz bottle (repurposed Simply Orange Juice bottle) in the fridge which required 10 scoops or 110 calories per my 60 oz bottle. That is much more acceptable in regards to Calorie consumption for my wife and I am re-ordering Altrix Rapid Thickener. GET THE DRINK MIXER for $5.00 USD.

Did not work as well as the reviews indicated. Have trouble with clumping in cold liquids and hot liquids.

Perfect for thickening soups, water, coffee. Works better in warmer water etc. stir fast in cold liquid!
