AcuRite Vertical Color Weather Station with Hyperlocal Forecast, Indoor/Outdoor Temperature, Outdoor Humidity, Time/Date, and Moon Phase (00505)

I had an older larger version of this one. It’s about 7 years old and batteries were not lasting as long as they should. So I ordered this smaller version which is so simple to set up and use I like it better than the older larger model. It doesn’t have an inside round disk battery like the big brother, and doesn’t need to be screwed down outside for the weather reception. This one hangs. It should cone with a hang hook, but I adapted and put twist tie and hung it on a nail under a covered area as it requests. It’s smaller, takes up less space, but has the same colorful screen. It’s quite accurate and has become something I look at about 50 times a day. For the price it’s a great gift too.

I bought one @ Lowes to begin with and it was DOA. I bought the same modal from Amazon because I really liked the features of the product. There are only two small caveats. The temperature can not be viewed 15 or more degrees off axis, also the outside temperature is a consistent 2 degrees low, however you can easily calibrate the indoor reading by comparing it to another thermometer. I guess I'll keep it though, with all of it's faults. Kind of like my wife keeps me :)

This unit is clearly not reading the accurate weather. It's currently January in upstate NY so there is no way it's 158 degrees here or anywhere on the face of this planet. Based off the instructions the sensor has been placed in a covered area outside, away from heat and direct sunlight and within the range specified to the display. I only bought this newer unit as a replacement for an older unit that was also listing the temp at 100+ degrees which I got rid of because obviously there was no way it was 100+ out in the middle of fall or winter. Huge disappointment.

This unit has been inaccurate since my purchase. Contacted customer service and was given a long list of things to do. Tried everything that was told to me and it still wonders all over with temperature reading. Sometimes it's right on and then a few hours later it is way off. Sensor is mounted on north side of my apartment in the shade so the sun cannot be a problem. Just not happy with all the jump through hoops I was asked to do when it would have been a lot nicer to just issue me a new unit.

My last Acurite weather station lasted many years. After changing batteries in the outdoor sensor it would not sync up again. I put this weather station on my Amazon wish list and received it for Christmas. I love, love,love this product. I have the outdoor sensor in my backyard in a large bush that is in an upper planter box and I can access it from underneath. It is prety much protected from rain by the canopy of leaves and gets the breezes that flow thru the yard. It appears to be fairly accurate. I love the backlight which makes it so easy to read. No problem reading it from angles. My priority for chosing a weather station was that it have the high and low temperature for each day and this one had that feature and so did my last one. Not concerned about humidity as much. Not all weather stations give high and low readings. The auto dimming feature after 9 pm is great as no need to look at it overnight. It is compact so does not take up as much space as my last one. I have it plugged in with the adapter but it can be used with batteries. I do have batteries installed for backup in case of loss of electricity. I was very happy with my last Acurite weather station but this one is an upgrade.
