Better than Freebird
Works great! I used the Freebird head shaver for years, but tried Remington after a bad customer service experience with Freebird. I’m glad I made the switch. This head shaver is waterproof, cleans easily, shaves nicely and the titanium blades stay sharp. Very easy to use and great value for a head shaver.

Better than any previous head shaver I have yried
When I started shaving my head I went with a head shaver from an instagram add, after a couple months it stopped working, I had it replaced and had a similar issue shortly after. So I went with Instagram ad 2. I felt like it took longer to get the job done. Then I dropped it by accident , so I replaced it with the Boss and I literally shaved my head in 2 min. It feels smoother than the others. If it stops working in a couple months I’ll update the review but for now this shaver is amazing. It’s fast and smooth

Poor performance in every aspect.
I'm fairly new to shaving my head, only been doing it for about a year. These clippers tore my scalp up for the first several weeks I used them, which is odd because they don't give me a very close shave. I kept it past the return date hoping it would perform better once my skin became more accustomed to the harsh abrasive feeling it gives. I had a Chinese off-brand that gave a closer shave, and eventually it died out so I got this hoping it would last longer and perform well. It absolutely did not. First issue I noticed is that I have to empty it and clean it half way through my daily cuts, or else it jams up and won't operate, even on 'turbo' mode. I do not produce a lot of hair so I'm not sure why that is. It does still operate - but only for 2 minutes (tops) before the battery dies. This is not nearly enough time to shave my 24hr stubble. It took about 8-9 minutes when it was brand new. So the battery is now completely degraded, I've never gotten this thing wet, and I've operated it according to the included manual. I'm assuming these positive reviews are from people that are lying to themselves to convince themselves they didn't get ripped off of $100, or they are reviewing without giving enough time for failure. Absolute trash. I'll be buying a cheap alternative from now on and just trash it when it breaks. Rather than spend so much on what I was hoping would be a higher quality item. This thing isn't worth a third of what I paid for it. It looks shiny. So if you like shiny, overpriced, name brand trash- here ya go, this is your best option. Ps. Good luck looking professional at your business meetings with a half shaved head when it spontaneously dies mid cut. Keep a razor on hand to finish the job.

Close, comfortable shave - with confusing model numbers
First, worth noting is that this is a review of the newer Remington BALDER BOSS head shaver, not the older Balder Pro model. When the razor arrived, there was a rattling sound heard inside the box, so I was concerned that the unit had arrived broken - however, this turned out to be the cleaning brush and small bottle of lubricating oil (more on this shortly). Still, if yours arrives with typical Amazon packaging, I recommend carefully checking the unit to make sure it arrived intact. The first thing noticed was that the label on the razor's box it arrived in said "DESCRIPTION BALDER PRO" instead of "BALDER BOSS" (see photo), so I immediately thought that I had been incorrectly sent the older "Pro" version which I didn't want (after reading numerous reviews concerning build quality issues). Adding to the confusion was that the "MODEL/REF" number on the box's label said "XR7100" which was different from the "XR7120USD" model number on the Amazon page...but the label's SKU did say XR7120USD. So I didn't know which one was correct - and when I tried to look on the Remington website itself to verify, I discovered that the Balder Boss model isn't even mentioned, just the Balder Pro (as it turns out, for some reason Remington keeps info on the Balder Boss on its own separate website with the same URL as the Boss name). I opened the Remington box to check further, and found that - as others here have also mentioned in their reviews - the small bottle of lubricating oil, while sealed, had somehow still leaked all over the inside of the left-hand accessories compartment, soaking through the paper manual and leaving the bottle only about an eighth full. I do wonder if this was due to the unit being bounced around in the box in transit. Adding further to the confusion, the paper manual also said "XR7100" as the model number instead of XR7120USD. The razor itself appeared to be fine, and based on photos I had seen I could visibly confirm that it was indeed the Balder Boss model I wanted. It feels solidly built and not flimsy, and fits very comfortably in my hand. I charged the unit for the full 8 hours the first time per the manual. Note that this unit does NOT come with an actual charger, just a USB charging cable with a proprietary end for the razor itself instead of standard USB (disappointing, as it means needing to get a new cable from Remington if it fails, and can't be replaced with a standard USB cable). So - about the razor itself: I love it! While it doesn't give that mirror-smooth kind of shave you get from a regular razor, I will say that it's dang close. I have thick hair that grows back quickly, but even so: I would say that the Balder Boss provides a very close and comfortable shave that feels like how my scalp feels about 4-5 hours after I shave it with a regular razor, which I feel is impressive. I am dry shaving with the Balder Boss, but I get no skin irritation afterward at all, which is also surprisingly impressive. For me the key is not to try to bear down too hard with the razor and just lightly press it to the scalp, shaving with both straight and circular motions. I also check how my scalp feels with the other hand to make sure I don't miss any spots. I am able to completely shave my scalp in about 3 minutes or less. I've tried the faster Turbo mode, and it works just fine. But honestly I find I'm happy with the shaving closeness with just the standard speed. I've now had the razor for about a month, shaving every 2-3 days, and the original first charge only just today went down to the one remaining flashing bar, which the manual says is the best time to charge the unit (and not after every shave). The razor is super easy to clean after each use, which is great. Simply remove the shaving head, brush both it and the inside of the motor unit (which holds all the cut stubble), thoroughly rinse off both in the sink with warm water and allow to air dry. Per the manual I use the oil (or what's left it....) to lubricate the blades, which is just a simple matter of putting a drop of oil on your finger tip, gently rubbing it into the FRONT of each of the five circular blade unit guards (not the back/inside with the green plastic blade holders), then wiping off the excess and letting it air dry. Worth noting that the XR7120USD model number Balder Boss does NOT come with a storage pouch - which as I'll explain in a moment is important to know. I was able to get a generic one here on Amazon that fits it and its cables just fine. So, I decided to contact Remington via the support form on their website, to ask all of these various questions in hope of getting some clarity about the confusing model names and numbers on the box and paper manual, as well as try to find out about which is the correct replacement head to use for the Balder Boss specifically. I was pleasantly surprised to get a quick response from them the following day, asking if I could send them a photo of the label on the outside of the box - they appeared to be equally confused about the different numbers I saw on the box label, paper manual, and the Amazon website too! I sent them the photo of the box you see here, as well as a screenshot of the model number on the Amazon page. Long story short: while they had no answer as to why the label said "BALDER PRO" instead of "BALDER BOSS" - Remington support said that the only real difference between the "XR7100" and "XR7120USD" is that the XR7100 comes with a storage pouch, while the XR7120USD does not. Otherwise, both are still the actual Balder Boss version, which you can also confirm by seeing that it has a red stripe around the unit above the rubberized grip, has a circular power button (instead of the rounded rectangle power button of of the Balder Pro), has the smaller Turbo button above it, and has 5 white power lights configured in an arc. Remington support also confirmed that the correct replacement head to get for the Balder Boss specifically is the Remington Balder Titanium Replacement Head for Electric Razor (model number SPR-XR7100-T), also available on Amazon...not to be confused with the "Balder Pro Head Rotary Shaver Head Replacement Assembly | SPR-XR7000". All in all, I've been really happy with the close, comfortable, and fast shave I'm getting with the Balder Boss! I hope this additional information I received from Remington support will help clear up any confusion you may have had like I did as well.

Rough on sensetive skin areas.
I love the closeness. Best of three I tried. Still nothing like a blade. Does work better in the shower. Down side...it chews up the back of my neck.

Remington is hands down the best shaver on the market.
There is the Remington Balder Boss, and then there are all others. It is easily the fastest and smoothest shave on the market. The battery holds up for about a month, even after a year of operation. Easy to clean and maintain. The Freebird Flex Pro is acceptable, able to shave the neck without burn, and comes with additional attachments. It lacks the turbo mode that comes on the Remington, and dosent result in as smooth of a shave. Reviews claim subpar battery life. Groomie is absolute garbage. It does not shave to smooth, no matter how much time you spend. They auto enroll you in a “blade subscription” for $28/month, and will not let you cancel until after they’ve delivered the subscribed item whether you want it or not. They also do not offer return shipping. Avoid at all costs.

Great shave but terrible battery life
Worked great for about a year, now battery doesn't hold charge. Quality of shave was great when it worked. Just need to work on the battery life

I saw a couple really negative reviews on here and I suspect that individual(s) either had a defective unit or simply lack the most basic of cognitive functions. This shaver works seamlessly without any bleeding or cuts or pain. Just like on the commercials. I use it in a circular motion and it didn’t take but a couple minutes for a complete head shaving. Usually I’ve used head clippers or more recently a beard clipper, which worked well, except sometimes the teeth of the blade dig into the scalp resulting in cuts and bleeding. I like the length of ‘stubble’ left over. I’m not going for a shiny razor shined shave but this brings it close enough I don’t have to hit my neck with a bic razor afterwards to tidy things up. Charges fast as indicated, well packaged minus the labelling error for the model number which see others noted, but you can clearly see this is the newer model by comparing to pictures. Also super fast and easy to clean. Pop the blade off hold it up side down and put the brush to it briefly and blow on it and success you’re done and ready for tomorrow….. or the next day. Also note it’s not designed for long hair more than 2mm so shave it once to get it short then maintain with this Remington device. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Well. So far the battery has been great compared to other reviews. This thing is super fast and does a great job. Very very close shave. It's been easy to clean too for me. The only issue is it leaves my neck and lower part of the back of my head read and sore every time I use it. Gonna power through and see if the skin will toughen up in time. I'll update the review of any thing changes. I'm going to try a wet shave next as this could be a deal breaker if you don't want a red neck every day

These are awesome. You will never shave with a razor again after buying them. Its just about as close to a razor without the hassle and mess. Easy to clean, charge lasts 3-4 full head shaves. Would recommend to anyone who like to shave there head often

This shaver worked well for my husband a couple times but started giving him trouble almost right away - within 2-3 uses it became hard to get it started, sometimes the battery wouldn’t charge. In the end it either stopped working altogether or it just became so troublesome that he gave up on it. He got a total of maybe 7 uses out of it. So disappointing.

Perfect for my head because I have dog wrinkles on my head when I shave it with clippers and cut myself the first few times but now I know to be careful where's there no hair. Bought cheaper ones that were terrible and this one is fantastic!!!
