Perfect for me
Movies nights with the partner are always an easy hit with this. With my PC home theatre (originally with the intent of streaming everything), this is perfect for my needs. No issues with reading older, heavier used disks. Scrubbing across some scenes are not as perfect, but it is good enough for me. Design is sleek and can be hidden relatively well, when not in use. Installation was a breeze, I did not need any special software, all I have been using is VLC; everything loads up just fine. Also, ripping old simple CDs, before they rot away, was as simple as it can be. I know it is not the intended use, but I’d like to preserve my old media where possible.

Excellent little burner
This little thing works great. It doesn't come with an AC adapter, and my PC USB doesn't provide enough power. But I was able to connect and power it just fine through my Laptop USB. Make sure to use a USB port that can provide enough power. They also give you a part number and instructions in the manual if you need an AC adapter.

Great External Bluray Drive
Have had it for a week now. Burns blurays without a problem. Using Windows 11 to drag and drop the files and burn them. I purchased a USB C to USB C cable instead of using the one included in the box. It has a USB A to USB C adapter. Which is okay I guess if you only have a USB A port. It's very quiet when burning. I also use it to watch Blurays on my computer via PowerDVD 18. I didn't install the included software that came with it. Didnt have a need for it.

Only reads CD and DVD. Beware if your laptop or PC is not compatible!
So, this device just plays only CDs and DVDs. After inserting a UHD Blu Ray or even a general Blu Ray movie some messages started to pop up like "Intel no longer supports devices like this one (the external blu ray player. It looks like something related to motherboards and that intel is not longer supporting or allowing to update your system to be able to play these blu rays on external devices for security reasons i.e. piracy), "you need aacs library", "you need Software Guard Extensions", etc...I am using just VLC to watch my movies. I am not sure what type of motherboard, system, or processor needs this product. I WOULD RECOMMEND BUYING A LESS EXPENSIVE BLU RAY PLAYER TO WATCH YOUR MOVIES IN YOUR PC OR LAPTOP.

Works for MACBOOK without issue, beware a proper USB-C cable
Some have issues with it on MAC: not true, works seamlessly! As long as you have a decent USB-C cable: as I am never a fan of USB Type A to USB-C adaptor (shipped with one). I tried 2 USB-C to USB-C cables: One didn't work (drive start and spin but doesn't mount), the second that is more robust (from a Corsair Headset actually quite long), worked like a charm.Next was to test and backup some BlueRay, I havent found in Digital format = so ZERO issue with it!And nice too: works without any trouble on my PCs: Desktop (Win11) or Laptop (Win 11).Next test: running some backups over DVD-DL and BDXL.In 2024, Pioneer could provide a USB-C to USB-C cable. And at that price, a small carry case, would be nice, but hey it's Pioneer and the quality is there.

Nice little unit
burner and software work fine. Only issue is that the cable is pretty short (about 1 ft). Had to buy a longer cable . Otherwise I would recommend the unit.

Highly accurate for ripping
I got it to rip CDs using dBpoweramp for my Roon server. This drive was able to accurately read disks that I didn’t think were possible due to how much damage was on the disk.New CDs rip very quickly, heavily scratched or damaged disks can take a long time, but still often rip accurately. Definitely was worth the money for me, considering that I didn’t need to rebuy the CDs, this was the cheaper option that will continue to make an impact going forward.(This is also one of the highest accuracy external drives in the dBpoweramp database, and coming from a low accuracy drive, the difference was very significant and I re-ripped my whole collection)

Quality drive
Fast drive. Well built. I wish the included cable was a little longer but I'm not taking off points.
