High quality in home video.
Having dedicated years to home video cameras, my allegiance shifted to Aqara after immersing myself in the hundreds of positive reviews surrounding their products. The visual clarity they offer is nothing short of astonishing, coupled with a connectivity that consistently surpasses expectations. With a comprehensive array of over 40 Aqara devices seamlessly integrated into my home, each one stands out for its exceptional performance. Navigating the Aqara app or interfacing with other components within the ecosystem is a seamless and intuitive experience. Personally opting for HomeKit integration, I experience unparalleled immediacy with which these devices effortlessly establish and maintain connections. Their reliability and swift responsiveness, whether utilized individually or within automations and scenes, underscore Aqara's undeniable quality. Now if AQARA would only manufacture outdoor cams!

Nice easy to use indoor camera
I previously purchased a video doorbell that failed after a few months. I reached out to Aqara and ultimately I was refunded. I used that refund to purchase this indoor camera to give Aqara another go. I have three door locks and they are awesome This indoor camera is also awesome. Love how it easily connects to HomeKit and works great with it. Highly recommend. Not sure what happened with the video doorbell but all my other Aqara products have been great.

Versatile Security Camera with Apple HomeKit Integration
We’ve been using the Aqara 2K Indoor Security Camera for a while now, and it’s been a fantastic addition to our smart home setup. After the Nest security system was discontinued, we struggled to find a fully customizable solution that worked seamlessly with Apple HomeKit, and this camera fits the bill perfectly. Not only does it function as a camera, but it also serves as an alarm system and door chime. One of my favorite features is the privacy mode—when activated, the camera physically closes, adding an extra layer of peace of mind. Setting up automations, like chimes for when the door opens (using Aqara magnetic door sensors), was easy initially, though it didn’t consistently work. I reached out to the manufacturer, and they were quick to address and fix the issue—a big plus in my book. The integration with Apple HomeKit is seamless overall, allowing you to view secure recordings directly in the Apple Home app with no need for SD cards or third-party subscriptions. However, the scenes you set up in Apple HomeKit don’t always work properly, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5. If Apple HomeKit integration wasn’t a key feature for me, this would easily be a 5-star product. The only other improvement I’d suggest is for the alarm system’s built-in speaker. It’s not quite loud enough, even at its maximum volume. I wish there were a way to turn it up louder, or that Aqara would consider upgrading it to a more powerful speaker in the future. Overall, I’m very satisfied with its performance and especially its compatibility with Apple’s ecosystem. Bonus: we also use the Aqara deadbolt lock, and it integrates perfectly with the camera. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem and looking for a flexible, reliable security camera, this is a great option.

Aqara indoor camera (not a hub)
I purchased this camera to go in the garage to monitor ins, outs, and packages that happen to come there instead of the front door. However, I decided to put it in the home office. It helps me monitor who "borrows" my office items that I am constantly looking for when I work from home. I can also see if the cat is in there when I am not there. I know I can use it for some automations or scenes. I need to think about that for a while. The price is right, and the video quality is great for the size of the room. This is an item I would get more of if I could figure out what more I could do with it.

I now have three
I saw YouTube review videos on this Aqara indoor security camera in which all reviewers gave it a glowing review. So I decided to give it a try since it was only sale on Amazon. Plus it was suppose to integrate seamlessly into Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem. Holy Smokes, the reviewers were right about how good Aqara cameras are. I quickly ditched my old systems (bye to my Ring and Abode cameras) and bought 2 more Aqara Cameras. Even the one that looks like a cat. The big surprise was my lovely wife loved these cameras too. She loves how easy it is to view the cameras on any Apple device including Apple TV. The really kicker is it can also be used an Amazon ecosystem and the Aqara video feed comes up quicker on our Echo Show than our Ring or Abode Cameras. Not only did we replace all our indoor cameras, we replaced our Ring doorbell camera with the Aqara Doorbell camera. It’s now been over 3 months since we bought the 1st Aqara camera and never had a connection issue. Another nice thing about Aqara Cameras, they can still be viewed even when your internet goes down. During a storm last month we lost power and the internet. We were running on backup power. The front Aqara doorbell rang and the camera view came up on our iPhone. We then tested all the other Aqara cameras after that doorbell ring and found they were all still viewable on our Apple devices. We can’t say enough good things about these cameras. Once again the YouTube reviewers were right about these Aqara Cameras.

Returning these the same day I installed them
I bought these today, set them up, mounted them, and I’m already taking them down and returning them. They’re advertised as 2K with Wi-Fi 6, but live view in the Aqara app shows 720p and the video quality looks exactly like that. The image is soft and heavily compressed. Pan and tilt control is slow and jerky, and the connection drops even in Aqara’s own app. Despite the Wi-Fi 6 marketing, the cameras only connect on 2.4 GHz. I have a solid network and other smart devices work fine, so this isn’t a network problem on my end. I bought these for HomeKit Secure Video, but the cameras never once showed online in HomeKit. They appeared in the Home app but always showed “No Response.” Live video never worked at all. I spent time setting these up, mounting them, and troubleshooting, and within hours it was clear they weren’t usable. The specs sound good on paper, but real-world performance doesn’t match the claims. I wouldn’t recommend these.

Good Value
For adding to Apple HomeKit this is a great find.

No Power Adaptor and Short USB cable
I don't know what Aqara was thinking when they released this E1 camera but is there a belief that we all have USB wall adapters lying around in drawers that aren't used. This box contains no power source. The next thing is that this is a mountable camera, and they include a 3ft USB C to USB A cable. You can barely reach the floor from desk with it. How are they expecting us to use this camera. So now I have to purchase a power source and a long cable like most of you will need to do unless you like power cords hanging halfway up the wall. Never seen anything like it. Now for the good stuff... very good picture and the app is very fast to connect. I LOVE that someone has finally given us the ability to store our recordings locally if I want to. Thank you for that. The only thing is that the video it saves to your NAS is not playable through the app which I don't get why not if you already have access to that storage. You'll have to navigate to the NAS local storage for playing back the MP4 videos. There isn't many details about the format and quality of the video recordings, but when I look at the codec information about the video, there are two video streams recorded. Using VLC media player gives a poor-quality image until I played it through media player instead. Not sure why that happens, but definitely needs good playback information as well all want the same quality we see on the app. So do I recommend it, YES. I think this is a worthy camera as long as you understand what to expect when you open that box and can't do anything unless you disconnect something else you have to test it.
