This home Celiac test kit gave me a false negative for celiac disease
I home tested using this kit from Berkeley Health whist I was waiting for my blood test results from my GP. This home test gave me a negative result for Celiac disease. Two days later my GP contacted me and said I was positive for TTG and had celiac disease. The NHS GP test result was 364.2 and the accepted range for negative was a result of 0 to 19. She said to me 'you have celiac disease' and she referred me to a Gastroenterologist for furter tests.

Utter waste of money
The test is a complete waste of money. Instructions followed to the letter and the test strip just goes a bit pink. No lines appeared anywhere, no positive/ negative or inconclusive result. Not at all helpful. Considering how advanced home testing kits are now for other things like pregnancy testing and blood sugar levels. This test was a real disappointment.

Product Review
Fiddly to get enough of your blood into the little pipette, which you need to do so as there's enough to get a correct result. Although it's a home test kit, it still advises you to get a proper blood test which pretty much negates the purpose of buying it in the first place. Plus there's also a chance you can easily do it wrong and get a result which is void so wasting the test. Not worth the money, might as well go to your doctor or clinic.

Cheap and fast way to find out if it's a gluten intolerance or celiac allergic reaction
For years, my gluten intolerance was unknown to me until i became an adult and started having symptoms after eating foods containing wheat or barley. once i had a swollen eye, But most other times it was bloating and gas for a day or two. The doctor ordered a celiac test for me, But she failed to advise me to eat gluten a day or so before the test, So my test came back negative. Now, since then it's been just bloating and gas after eating wheat, But this test kit was cheap enough for me to test myself at home and find out under the right conditions if it was related to celiac disease. Thankfully it came back negative, So now i know it's definitely an intolerance, But i do have to stay away from chain pizza dough, As that dough does cause a severe reaction, Not sure why, But seems many use the same bought in dough.

Not easy to use!
I wasn’t sure how good this test would be as it says Celiac on the box but it is spelt Coeliac. However, I can see after a quick Google that Coeliac is the UK spelling and Celiac is the North American English spelling. This test is a little like a covid test but you use blood instead. After reading the instructions twice I knew I’d need some help carrying out this test. It wasn’t overly easy to collect the blood sample so I’m glad I roped my husband in. I’d definitely say this is a two-man job! Ensure you massage your finger as instructed as this will ensure a good amount of blood is released after using the lancing device. The instructions state you shouldn’t press the bulb on the pipette as it should naturally draw up the blood. It doesn’t! I had a decent amount of blood and it only sucked a tiny amount into the pipette, but it went nowhere near the black line like it was supposed to. Instead, I added a drop of blood to the vial containing the diluent. After shaking the vial for at least 10 seconds I was able to add 3 drops to the test device. I left the test for 10 minutes as instructed and I only received a line in the control area which means my result is negative. If you get a line in the test area too it’ll mean your result is positive. I have several Coeliacs in my family so I was keen to know if I am one too. I can’t tell you if this test is accurate but I believe it is because I don’t tend to have any classic symptoms of coeliac disease. I think this is a good quick way to test if you have symptoms, but always best to check with a doctor as well.
