WHY does it say a double A battery is required???

No batteries are required. It plugs into a standard electrical outlet. The last shaver I had had too short of a cord. The cord on this one is longer than you will ever need.

Is the wall plug in a box as shown in the picture or is it an ordinary 2 prong plug?

If this is a corded shaver, how come the guy in one of the advertising photo is using it without the ac cord?

The photo does not look as good when the cord is shown? It does need to be plugged in. I think it is NOT a good cord.
