New Metal Garden Arch Heavy Duty Strong Rose Climbing Plants Archway Tubular

Baffling!
First off, I will be buying more, but easy to assemble, well, not exactly. You have 2 (e) legs, one for either side and during assembly, even if u do follow the instructions, or have a degree in rocket science you’re still left a little perplexed as to how u now have a leg that doesn’t fit when u join up all other pieces and think you’ve been sold a dud! I’ve found Rubik Cubes easier. But after a second strong black coffee, much swearing and a degree of muttering, you discover where the error lies. Although, you’ll figure that out. You get what u pay for. I’ve yet to see how it copes in strong winds or with the might of a domestic blackberry bush growing over it.What I do like about it, is the adjustable height. 2.4m is waaaay too high for what I need but it means that the more I do buy, I can add height to other arches or keep spares for any damage done by storms or wear or tear. So, with an ever increasing demand for more space at the allotment, I will be investing in more arches.

Updated: Decent enough for the price, wouldn't say "heavy duty"
Updated March 2023 see end. Original 4* given. This review and star rating considers the very low price of the item, expecting a customer to understand that such a cheap product cannot possibly be compared to a much more expensive option (of which there are many) and its limitations/flaws should be accepted at this price point. The product comes in a fairly small cardboard box with all metal tubing parts and screw fixtures. It requires a Philips screwdriver to construct. They recommend two people construct it, but it can be done with one person with care. It's worth noting that the interlocking steel pipes follow the frame around from the bottom of one side to the bottom of the other, so it's important to get them all the right way around otherwise you'll be left with a section that can't be connected. The instructions are adequate, with a diagram. The product I received was missing one screw from the packet. I've temporarily sourced a similar screw to hold the structure together (it's currently not load bearing in any way as no plants are yet trained against it). Seller may be able to send replacements. Because you're screwing into a pre-threaded metal crossbar section, the screw must match exactly to get a tight fit. Hopefully this isn't a problem with most units, probably an oversight in the factory.I wouldn't call the tubing 'heavy duty'. It feels a little flimsy, and the connecting sections do squash very easily, meaning I had to reshape a couple of them in order to fit sections together. However, now it's in the ground it seems pretty stable and should adequately hold a climbing plant or two. It is not designed to be freestanding though, you'll need to anchor it into solid ground and/or concrete to be confident of its soundness. For the price, I think you get a decent enough product. You could pay a lot more for something stronger/heavier, but I think it will be fine for growing a few plants over - they may even add to its stability as they will be rooted in the ground next to it.Update: The arch has lasted (just) for two complete growing seasons but now is rusted and falling apart. Several horizontal pieces have fallen away and, worse, the metal has sheared near the base making the whole thing unstable.Tried to do remedial work using additional stronger metal posts I had, but really it's futile. This may be OK for lightweight plants but not good enough for strong plants like roses. In fairness, did not apply any further rust proofing paint etc. to this but bear in mind that's very difficult if you have plants growing over it, unless they are annual or can be untied.I see that the product is no longer available under this listing but beware if it, or similar, appears elsewhere. Either spend more money or look to another solution if you want a support for climbers.

Very good value
Not all of the sections plugged together readily, some had to be mixed and matched to make them fit before the whole thing could be assembled. Even so I recommend it as a very good value for money product that fits the purpose of a simple garden arch.

Wider than I thought
Wider than I thought it would be

It is quite tall - good for 'giant' climbing roses
It was easy to assemble but would have benefited from pointed stakes at the bottom (which I believe you can buy separately) but by hammering in canes I stabilised it. My ground is full of stones but it has held up in the gales of late, and I am pleased with it. Good value and does the job.

Easy to assemble
Not very easy to fit into ground.Used for imbing plant

Not heavy duty as described.
Needed to replace arch for a rose and honeysuckle blown down in storm. Not all holes drilled for assembly. OK as temporary structure but not robust enough long term.

Not strong
This product is not "heavy duty" as described in the advert for the arch. However, I have lashed 4 together and buried them deep in cement. Lashing them together creates further resistance to wind and give stability.I would not recommend these as a single assembly, they are quite fragile.
