Volvo Penta 10-40 Motor oil is some of the best. after 300 Hrs of run time I opened up the motor up to adjust valves and the inside of the motor looks brand new. yes, I would recommend it to all my Boating friends. The fast shipping is always good also.

Volvo Penta GL 5.0 Engine
This is the correct oil for my Glastron GX225 boat with a Volvo Penta GL 5.0 engine.

Basically...you are paying twice as much because it says Volvo on the label.
We all know Volvo Penta doesn't manufacture oil. They just contract it out to someone. To my surprise, 10w-40 synthetic is extremely hard to find in any other brands. I'm sure you could get by with a 20w50 in Mobil for half the price...but since this is a new engine I didn't want to risk it.
