REGAPlanar 1 Plus Turntable in Matt Black

Uses Line Level as opposed to Ceramic/Magnetic inputs, sounds and tracks great right out of the box. I coupled mine to restored Vintage Dynaco PAS-3 Preamp and Home made SE 300B Triode Tube Amp. Sounds phenomenal! Esp on all those old 70's vynyl records you may have laying around in a box in the garage or attic!

This record player is so crisp and consistent. The price is steep, but you get what you’re paying for. High quality. If you’re a vinyl junkie this is the perfect fit.

Setup couldn't be more simple. Plug it in, snap on the counterweight and it's ready to go and sounds great.

The motor does emit a slight noise that can only be heard when a record isn't playing. Otherwise this turn table is fantastic. It looks and sounds great.

Rega's marketing spell finally worked it's magic on me. My wife and I recently purchased a new home and I thought it would be nice to have a second record player out in the living room. I had always been wary of brands that offer entry level price point models, but about a year ago I got to play around with a few really nice high end models, maybe $3k-12k turntables, and a couple of them were Rega. So here I am in the market for a new turntable, nothing expensive as it won't get used very often and I began thinking about the Rega Planar 1'. I assumed the high-end technology probably trickles down to the entry level Planar 1 and I didn't research the table at all. That was a huge mistake. I never would have bought it just from the counter weight design alone. There's no way to dial in the weight? What? There isn't a removable headshell? Alright, alright, alright, you get what you pay for...so forget about those faults and let's plug this puppy in and see what she can do!Meh.Just simply powered on with the platter spinning will make my subwoofer rumble terribly.Alright but what about with a record?HAHAHA! this thing doesn't play records, all I get is amplified distortion! Hell, when I touch the tonearm I hear an FM radio station in my speakers and it's clearer than the music from the record!I tried everything, different preamps etc. The only thing I haven't tried is a new cartridge.Oh and it's brand new. I could just send it back for a refund...but nope....I waited 10+ days for the speakers to arrive and during that 10 days I threw out the original packaging, so no refunds.As you can see, I'm not happy about sinking money into a new cartridge that may or may not fix a brand new turntable.F*^% Rega.

Player was easy to set up. Sounds quality is awesome, and the white one looks great on me black furniture. People come over and give me comments on how it looks.Love having the Pre-amp built into it.

This five star review is possible only because of the quality of the seller, Dedicated Audio in Scottsdale. The turntable came out of the box with problems. Crack in dust cover, loose cartridge, missing bolt attachment between tone arm and cartridge. I also needed some advice on eliminating background hum. Dan and Matt with Dedicated Audio were on it. They worked with Rega, got a new dust cover shipped, they promptly sent replacement bolts of different sizes (including a mini LED flashlight to help with installation). They promptly responded to several emails. This could have been a real bummer of an experience, but they were great.With all that said, now that the turntable is in proper working shape, it performs great. Read any of the reviews on Rega and you’ll get the picture. Disappointed that with the out of the box problems, but all’s well that ends well.

I have 2 two channel systems, and I got this table to play with while in a temporary living arrangement in an apartment. I went-in thinking great a made in the uk player, but I was very disappointed in the outcome. First, I hate the lack of upgradability and fine tuning. I have owned many very expensive tables. I had my issues with them too. I had a $30,000 maximum solution made by clearaudio. I thought it was a total piece too. But, I will get back to the rega. I hate the fact that they swapped-out the glass platter for like a plastic one. But, I think even worse they made it thicker to seem better and nicer than it is too. Rega made the hollow plastic one 23 mm vs the original glass at 10mm. I mention this due to tracking issues and no way(s) to adjust. I hate the fact that to cheapen and make look better they made the tracking an issue without the ability to adjust it. Rega like all company is in for the money and the cheapest is always going to be lessen more with time. I would get a planar 2 or 3 if you want rega. I personally like maximum tweaking on my tables which rega does not allow.

Es hatte nicht geklappt bei meiner Denon PMA 900HNE. Der Ton war total abgesturtz. Nutzlos. Das gerate ist leicht, der vinyl wrap ist schlecht gemacht. Nur 200 Euro wert, auf kein fall 500 Euro wert. Kaufe eine pro Ject oder Audio Technica statt. Direct zurück geschickt.

Fantastic player. I had read many reviews saying as much and I was not disappointed. The sound quality is amazing, even through my micro hi-fi system. It also plays anything I throw at it, even scratched records that would jump on my old player. It even makes picture discs sound great. Easy to set up too.If I was to be mega picky I would say there were two small negatives: firstly I would ideally want a better hinge for the dust cover- the hinge doesn't hold the cover's weight so the cover can easily be dropped onto the player if it slips out of your hand whilst opening or closing. Secondly, the whole platter has to be removed in order to change the speed.These are minor compared to the awesome sound quality. If it can make a 40 year old scratched picture disc sound like a CD then I can live with lifting a platter!

I finally gave in and decided to join the new wave of vinyl users but didn't really know what turntable to get. My old Pioneer PL12d was amazing decades ago but I knew nothing about modern turntables. After lots of hunting around and reading many reviews, I decided to go for the Rega Planar 1 Plus.And do I regret it? Absolutely not! What a great sounding system!OK it's not the cheapest on the market but it's a very, very long way from the most expensive but, for the price, it sounds amazing.I was a bit concerned about buying the built-in preamp but I knew I'd need one as my amp is quite a distance from the turntable. I needn't have worried. It's absolutely fine.Other people have criticised the lid and the three legs, but I have absolutely no problem with them. I would recommend it with no reservations.
