Lovely taste. The smell was great too. But came in hard branches about 1/4-1 inch long pieces. Was hard to break down. I used a hammer to help break into pieces.

I absolutely love sassafras! My grandmother would make me sassafras tea when I was a kid, so it brings back some wonderful memories. The taste is exactly as I remember. Just make sure to rinse it well before using it.

sorry to say—the product has little, if any, flavor and does not taste like sarsaparilla. It is nearly impossible to grind in a coffee grinder so that is a problem too. But, I bought it for its flavor — which it lacks altogether. Maybe the product sat in storage a long time? or has poor flavor due to when it was harvested?… condition of the soil it was grown in? I do not know. I would not buy this again.

This item should be ground. It is too bulky and difficult to crush.
