My husband and I no longer drink. Next month will be 1 year for us both. We are both into cooking. He had this in his watch list. He is wanting to open a food truck. I can't tell what food he is smoking, but omg it is really good! The price is good. The taste isn't overwhelming. I wish they sold the dome with it. It is easy to use and put together. It is good quality. My husband says he loves it!

This is a fantastic smoker. Easily stored, creates amazing amounts of smoke to fully infuse your food or drinks. We use it with our wood chips.

This is the 3rd inexpensive table-top smoker I have bought. This was definitely the easiest to use, the most efficient, and I was very happy with the results overall. Was. After almost a year of bi-weekly use (I smoke cheeses, butter, ham, ribs, wings, etc. using a - bought separately - cloche) it just doesn't work anymore. I can't find any info on cleaning it, and it does need cleaning - the creosote buildup inside seems to gum up the fan motor and it no longer runs. At all. I guess $25 a year for a disposable smoker is not the worst investment but I hate the waste...

Update: Check your spam folder after you order. The company sends out instructions that are better than the printed ones in the box. I messed up and let this run too long. I melted the plastic straw. Quite fortunately, Gramercy has top notch customer service and sent me a whole new smoker at no cost. Love this little smoker! Last year we went to a super fancy (expensive) restaurant on Nantucket. They brought the bread out with these little balls of butter. It was smoked butter and I swear I've never had anything so amazing in my life! Seriously, we've been talking about this butter for a year now. I was going to get one of those big smokers but there isn't much room in the yard. This was a perfect solution. We tried this out last night with a regular, store bought stick of butter. It took a few minutes to get it going and to get the smoke to fill the pot. But once we got the wood chips going, everything ran smoothly. We let it run for about 10 minutes and ended up with perfectly smoked butter. The instructions are a bit lacking. The battery setup is weird and the compartment for the wood chips is tiny. We probably spent more time looking for the tiniest chips we could find than doing the actual smoking. Overall, this is a good little gadget to have around if you don't feel like investing in a big smoker or if you don't have the space.

First, the smoker concept is great and does work nearly as well as touted by Gramercy. However, the pictures on the Gramercy product page show a flat clear disc on a cocktail glass which includes a tube and accessory to infuse the drink. All of that implies that the disc is included in the bundle. BUT, it was NOT included in the package I received. On the other hand a dome is shown in anoher picture but there is a clearly statement that it is not ncluded. Further, a statement in the product information says: "The GKC portable smoker offers a CLEANING BRUSH, WOOD CHIPS, and replacement parts EXCLUSIVE TO OUR PRODUCT." NOT ENTIRELY TRUE! The brush and wood chips are included, as are 2 replacement screens and a small Philips screwdriver, BUT no flat cup covers for infusion or other “parts EXCLUSIVE TO OUR PRODUCT” are included as highlighted above. Operation: The unit assembles easily for operation, but the fan only runs (producing smoke) for 5 seconds, then just quits. But, the motor continues to run for some reason. After setting for 15 minutes the fan will run again, but only after tapping it hard, then only runs for 5 seconds, again. At this point, it is clear the unit seems to be defective, unreliable, enough so that I will return it and try to find something that works reliably. In sum, this product would be sufficient and ideal to keep if it would function reliably. One other issue: The product info on the Amazon site states: “BONUSES! You'll receive a downloadable recipe guide filled with tips & recipes…..” Not so! Now, 2 days after delivery of the product nothing to that effect has been received in my email account.. None of this is much of a confidence builder in/for Gramercy Kitchen Products, frankly.

I got this for my partner for Christmas for smoking cocktails, and we love it! It was a very nice inexpensive option for us, but it still works really well. I'm not sure what flavor/scent of wood chip comes with it -- I think maybe hickory, but I can't recall -- but it does come with a nice little pouch of chips to get you started. We burned through those pretty quickly; I'd definitely recommend getting a set of wood chips along with it at the beginning. (We got Breville's set of mesquite, hickory, applewood, and cherrywood, and that's been awesome for this.) It imparts really lovely flavors to our cocktails (and just straight up bourbon or rye, unsurprisingly) in about a minute, and is so easy to clean up. Part of the clean-up that I'd wish I known at the beginning is that you should remove the head of smoker, where the chip basket is, and clean off the smoky-scented oil that deposits there after you use it. I have a little brown oil stain in my drawer now after not having known about this. But it does come with a little velvet pouch, so if you stored it in there, there would be no issue, I would guess. One other thing we discovered is that this does not light easily with just a match. Fortunately, I have a little butane torch for baking, and that works great with this.

I got this for my son who has a magnificent bar in his basement. A novel gift.
