A Year With My Pond
THE SHORT VERSION I bought this pond in May 24 and it has made a massive difference to the wildlife in the garden, bringing in birds, bugs, frogs and tadpoles. It’s easy to build in under 15 mins with simple instructions, it’s great quality and a good size. The option of being able to create a bug home under the wildlife access steps is a great idea. It’s honestly the best £200 I’ve ever spent for the amount of joy it brings. I absolutely recommend it and so does the wildlife! THE LONG VERSION AND HOW I CREATED MINE I chose this raised pond because I wanted to encourage wildlife into the garden whilst also being able to keep the dog out of it. Some pond plants can be toxic to dogs and cats and I used online searches to help when choosing plants, along with planters all around the perimeter of the pond to help with this. Once the pond was quickly and easily built, I created a ramp using rocks and bricks going up to the steps of the pond. This is important to help wildlife such as hedgehogs to climb out should they happen to investigate and fall in. Large cobble stones were added to the bottom of the pond and terracotta pots placed on their side for amphibians to hide in. I filled it from the rain water butt as it’s safer than tap water. Native oxygenating plants were then added including hornwort (bought on here) and a packet of watercress, which is around £1 from any supermarket and is fine to just throw in (not the sandwich cress type in the square tub), this grows its own roots and spreads, growing pretty white flowers. I put in marginal plants and stood them on bricks, and planted a water mint in the ready made planter next to the steps. I also added duckweed and a white waterlily for some surface cover, to help prevent blanket weed and green water. Duckweed can cover an entire pond, so in winter when the surface froze, I took some out trapped in the ice whilst the critters were hiding safely at the bottom of the pond. I do use the water fountain it came with and it’s lovely, the sound also seems to help encourage wildlife to it. I did remove it over the winter in case the frost damaged it and put it back in the spring. Through the seasons this pond has progressed so much in terms of plant cover and the wildlife within it. First to arrive were tiny critters including rat tailed maggots (hover fly larvae), water louse, pond snails (came in on bought plants, so no need to buy). Birds came to visit and eat/drink from the pond. Then in July 24 frogs started visiting with one choosing to hibernate over winter. At the end of March 25 frogspawn was laid and we now have tadpoles! I have loved every minute of the year with my pond and I hope you love yours too!

Really pleased with this.
I'm really pleased with this. The product is of real good quality, the liner and underlay are nice and thick and the panels are really robust. Really easy to put together, I had it assembled in about 15 minutes. A real nice addition to my revamped garden. The only thing I would say is that it would have been the icing on the cake if there had been some guidance on how to best set up the pond once it has been assembled, you know, what kind of plants to include to best attract wildlife but I'm guessing all of that can be found with a quick Google search. Like I say that would have been a nice touch but it doesn't detract from what a great product this is. Absolutely 5 stars.

A nice feature.
This is a nice little pool at an affordable price. I found it pretty straightforward to assemble and it took less than an hour. The pool looks great on our patio and has already attracted water beetles and a couple of pond skaters. The birds are drinking from it, although the pigeons look precarious and about to fall in the water. All ín all, a very happy purchase.

Problems with the solar pump
The pond itself is very easy to put together, looks great and is already attracting wildlife into the garden. There is however a problem with the solar pump which is still under warranty and stopped working a few weeks ago. I contacted the company called Interpret that supplied the pump on May 22nd to inform them that it had stopped working and sent a photo of the pump to illustrate this. They asked me to check the filter and to make sure the pump was in direct sunlight all of which I did, I have now been told that I must return the pump to them for inspection following which they will decide whether or not it is faulty. This seems like an awful lot of hoops to jump through to get a replacement pump, I am in my later years and find all this to be distressing and causing me anxiety. The reason I am writing is to make people aware of Interpets customer approach and this does not reflect on the excellent quality of the pond itself 17/06 Update since original review Interpet have inspected the pump and will be sending me a replacement. Customer care worked out ok just took a bit longer than expected. Im looking forward to hearing the gentle sounds of water from the pond.

Excellent addition to our garden
Excellent addition to our garden. Well made, good instructions, went together well but we had to think about it at times. We cut a patch out of the lawn, carefully levelled it and carefully put it together, no problems. Here it is a year later, a waterlily has just flowered, we have two small newts, all sorts of bugs, no idea how they got into it! We cut out a surrounding patch of lawn about 30cm wide, edged it with light timber and the plants are now hiding the plastic somewhat. The fountain works best with the single jet because there is a lot of plant life in our pond which can block up the fine holes in the other jets. The filter is easy to take out and clean.
