Review: Fantastic Pool Surface Cleaner - This solar automatic pool skimmer has worked great for the first month that I’ve had it. Keeps the top of pool water cleaner. Even fine debris is retained. I have a 16x32 ft in ground pool with many trees and it has kept up just fine. Runs all night on the solar charge. I live in Florida and it’s July so I’ll have to wait to see what happens in January but so far it’s really good.
Review: This thing is incredible! - I should mention that my pool is a swamp currently. The circulation/filter system is not connected and needs an overhaul. Its been that way for two years and it had leaves and pine needles and twigs coating the surface. It has not been in good condition for two years and it was closed "dirty" and not opened at all last year or this year. I've been super shocking and chlorinating for weeks in the hopes of getting it cleaned up in time to close it when its fresh and clean this year so it can finally be used again, next year. The oxidation has been bringing up leaves and other stuff that fell in previously and sank to the bottom. I skim them off with the skimmer net but the pump is not running and looks like that will have to wait until next year, too. I've been keeping algae at bay so far, but old leaves and pine needles and other debris kept rising from the bottom, the water so cloudy I couldn't even see the bottom enough to pull the stuff out with a leaf rake net. So yesterday afternoon, I unpacked this machine. It hasn't even been 24 hours. I wish I could give it ten stars. Instructions are very good with clear explanations, photos and diagrams. Very easy to understand, and very easy to operate. Instructions said it would work right out of the box. That was true. The battery was charged and all I had to do was turn the switch on and put it in the pool. There is a remote that you can use to direct it around and bring it back to the side of the pool to clean out the debris basket. The remote takes AAA batteries. Just turn on the switch, and put it in the pool. It paused a moment and then the lights came on flashing green and my new "Buddy" took off to take its first circle around the pool, sucking up huge maple leaves, white pine needles, cedar pinecones, twigs and pollen and grass seeds that have been blowing in as the grasses in back go to seed. And the screen filtering in the debris container is so fine its also helping to get the cloudiness out by filtering the finest debris like the dead algae. I have three items floating in the pool, two chlorine floaters and a thermometer. All three have solar lights that come on after dark. I was concerned that they might somehow get stuck and block the impeller on the skimmer machine, but that was not a problem at all. In fact, as night came on, my new "buddy" actually seemed to be attracted to them. The instructions say that when the battery starts to get low, it will move around to get the best exposure to the sun's light to keep the battery charged up. There is also a "sleep mode" that stops the impeller that pulls in the debris, but turns the propellers on intermittently to move around to capture sunlight to charge the battery. I got the model that also has the alternative electric charger. I put it in the pool Monday afternoon around 4 p.m. There were clouds coming in and it started to rain so there was not much sun and that kept up all night and most of the next day and night, but Wednesday had bright sunshine all day. It kept working except for once when it signaled the impeller was clogged. I cleaned it out and it went back to work. I don't know if its really possible but it seemed to me that after dark, this skimmer went to the floating solar lights that came on after dark, and maybe drew some charge from the light they gave off. I do know that on Wednesday morning all three floaters were herded into one corner and the skimmer was still working. When I watched at night, the skimmer actually circled around and turned to "face" the largest of the floaters that changes color and goes through the whole light spectrum. It was easy to imagine that the skimmer was drawing energy from those lights, too. Again, I do not know if that is even feasible. Thursday sometime in the afternoon, it stopped and the lights went dark which means its very low on battery. I hooked it up to the electric charger (also simple and very easy) and it charged up in about an hour. This is Friday morning and its been working all night, and is out there still running around the pool and its supposed to be sunny today so it will probably get charged up to the max on its own, today. The surface of the pool is clear of all debris. I am beyond pleased so far. Certainly this was worth the money for me.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth every penny — wish I bought it sooner!
*by A***R on June 10, 2026*

I’ve been using the Betta SE Plus Solar-Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer and I have to say I’m really impressed. This little robot has made taking care of the pool so much easier. Before, I was constantly having to skim leaves, bugs, and other debris off the top of the water, but now the Betta handles most of that for me. The solar charging works great. I love that I can leave it in the pool and it just does its thing throughout the day without needing to plug it in. It quietly moves around collecting debris, and the basket is very easy to empty and clean. It does a great job getting stuff before it sinks to the bottom, which also helps keep the rest of my pool cleaner. The build feels sturdy, setup was simple, and it has already saved me a lot of time. One of the best pool purchases I’ve made. If you’re on the fence about getting one, I’d definitely recommend it. It makes pool maintenance a lot less of a chore.
