Working great for R134a, R410a, R12 and R22
Working great for R134a, R410a, R12 and R22 Very effective product as I tried to hunt down a leak in the A/C system in my car. It actually has 3 models and the first is really sensitive as I have to turn it down a bit. Not sure about the other ones, but it did really a perfect job on detecting R134a, R410a, R12 and R22. My favorite part about this device is the visual indicator as well as the tone which makes it extremly easy to use.

Sniff sniff you’ve got a leak mate
Beep beep beep beeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeep. It’s not the most accurate sniffer you will ever find, but for the money, it’s pretty good! It can actually find leaks. I’m in the motor trade so it’s handy for R134a and R1234yf leaks. Be careful though because if you accidentally touch the tip on something you can get a false positive. But after a bit of practice it comes in quite handy.

Flipping a coin would be more accurate
Can this detect R134A? I'm still not sure. Sometimes it goes off near a leak very small leak, sometimes you can see the leak but it can't detect it. Sometimes it goes off when you get near an engine bay, sometimes when outdoors and 50 yards from the closest machine. Perhaps its operator error but I've given up with it as it seems to be complete luck of the draw if it beeps or not.

False readings when wand is touched
I bought this detector to find R1234yf leaks on customers cars. It does the job BUT it is very sensitive to the extent that even a slight tap on the wand sets the alarm off. This means that trying to search for leaks in a car engine bay without actually touching anything with the wand is very time consuming and virtually impossible in some vehicles. Hence it gives a lot of false alarms which you need to keep going over to verify if there’s an actual leak. However, when it does find a leak it is very accurate. To be honest I wish I’d been able to try before buying because I would have spent more for a better unit.

Detects multiple refrigerants but can give false positives
Works well on R12, R134A & R1234RYF in a vehicle workshop environment, the peak reading is great as is the large display in a noisy environment, the only downsides are the time taken from 'sniff-to-sensor', meaning you can be past the leak before it shows up, and the previously mentioned mechanical shock leading to it showing a false positive detection. That said, even with these issues, it's good value for money given the cost of the alternatives.
