Exactly as advertised, very happy.
This review is for the Yilotuce 2 Qts Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix. This item just works as advertised. It is a compressed brick of shredded sphagnum moss with a small bag of perlite to mix in. Both appear to be very good quality. The brick expands large enough to fill and average 6 inch pot. We used this to repot a venus flytrap.

Great soil for a number of carnivorous plants
I planted a variety of carnivorous plants in a large bowl filled with this plant soil mix. All but one are thriving! The package makes it appear this is all sphagnum moss but in fact it is a soil that holds water very well. I covered it with sphagnum moss which is what is seen in the attached image. There are 3 variety of plants growing in the soil- a pitcher plant, a couple of venus flytraps and sundew plants. A butterwort died quickly after being planted alongside these so it likely could not tolerate the sustained moistness of the soil.

Saved my VFTs from dying!!
I bought this for a few of my vfts. Since most of the reviews were good I decided to get it. You don’t need much of it either. It expands like crazy in (distilled) water. I still have a lot left. I bought some carnivorous plants and I got a VFT as my free gift. It was in a tiny nursery pot and it was definitely too small. So I could tell it was going to die if I didn’t repot it soon. Within 3 days half of it turned black and it didn’t look healthy. As soon as I got the soil I went to repot it and it was very easy. Just looked up a quick tutorial on YouTube. I also repotted another VFT I’ve had for awhile. It wasn’t looking good either and the seller had tied a small paper bag with soil on the roots (guessing when it shipped here) preventing it from growing in the long run. I took that off and re potted them too. In the same pot just new soil. Now my plants are thriving!!! New growths are popping up! They look greener too. Retains the moisture well.

Great product. Exactly as advertised!
The brick appeared to be small but as some of the reviews indicated, I only needed 1/4 of it to completely fill two 5" plastic pots. I ended up with plenty of peat moss left. The amount of perlite seems to be small (I'm guessing that it should be enough - I don't know for sure). I'm pretty happy with this purchase. I'll wait some time to see how my Venus flytrap responds to the new soil before adding new comments/pictures.

Worth the money!
Don't make the same mistake I made and wet it all at once. It expands and expands a lot! Handle it piece by piece.
