BACKBONE One Mobile Gaming Controller for iPhone 14 & Older (PlayStation Edition) Lightning - 2nd Gen - Phone Controller, Play Xbox, PlayStation & More (With 3 Months of Apple Arcade Access)

Not sure why the often returned warning is about but this works flawlessly. Now I strictly use it for Play Station Remote play so maybe I'm not seeing what others are. Maybe something with their gaming service subscription, which is not required to use with the PS Remote Play app. I may try that out later and report back. However as I m using it, this works great. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, lightning connector with a case. An extra set of inserts are in a box attached to the lid. I switched out the standard for those and my phone fits perfectly in the Backbone unit with the case attached. Downloaded the app and connected quickly to my PS5. I see no lag, but this is within my home. I'll update when I am outside of my home network. Buttons react quickly and emulate a PS5 controller well. There are two ports, one to charge your phone when in use. You must supply the charger and connector. The other is for an extension cable to use the Backbone with an iPad. In my case, it was a lightning connector on the backbone to a USB-C on my iPad. Still worked great. I can now use my PS5 and access all my games without bothering anyone in the house wanting to watch TV where my PS5 is setup. It would be nice to have a case for this, as it doesn't come with one, but I'm sure there is one here on Amazon to buy. The Backbone itself has a great feel to it. Well built, solid, smooth control and a nice feel in the hand. If you want to play with the Playstation remotely this is the way to go.

I have a friend who got this controller and liked it, so I took a shot. Overall it’s a solid controller. Here’s a breakdown of pros and cons: Pros: Feels comfortable in your hand. Solid feedback on the button clicks and joysticks. Very large adjustment range. I tested this against the size of Apple's 6.7" phones and it adjusted (right to) that size. Unfortunately it's too small to run with my 7" tablet. Feels well made. Doesn’t need its own battery so no need to charge the controller Their companion app has petitions for games without controller support to get companies to add support. Easily configurable on iOS (the version I bought). Cons: My Iphone 13 with the thinnest case I could fine can't use the case adapters. My Iphone se2 with a very thin case had to use the "large case" adapters, so I suspect the "small case" adapters are almost entirely useless for any iphone you have. Also my Wife's iphone 13 with her larger case can't even be used in this device. It would have been nice to have more case support (maybe backbone should sell some backbone-supported cases?). It could use a little more support behind the phone, maybe removable inserts? While it doesn’t need a battery, the extra juice would be useful. It’s really pricey for a controller with no battery. The backbone button is useless unless you want to pay for the optional service. It should be programmable as a Xbox/ps/home button. This can get annoying as accidentally pressing it causes the backbone app to open, which, unless you're paying for that service (I don't even know the use of the service), or submitting a petition to get a game controller support, is utterly useless. All told it’s a solid choice if you’re looking to leverage your phone to play games that work better with a controller.

I’ve bought this model about 6 months ago. During that time I had an amazing experience! Felt good playing mobile games and even some emulators on my phone. Seemed like the perfect accessory. Unfortunately, my excitement got the best of me because now the controller’s buttons are randomly ceasing to function. Note: I’ve never dropped this controller. May have a bit of ware due to extensive use, but I’ve always treated this thing like a newborn child. I’ve tried several methods to get this thing to function the way it was programmed to. I’ve done a bit of research and discovered this problem is very common. Imagine spending $100 ( $30 more than your standard and current controllers on consoles) only for it to have unexpected problems under a year… While this accessory has some pros, the cons outweigh the rest. Be aware when purchasing this product. I am honestly disappointed in this controller overall and its come to my attention that there are cheaper/better options than the backbone.

I have zero issues with the Backbone, it has been phenomenal out of the box, no problems. I did end up purchasing the wrong version and had to reorder the correct one (black is for Xbox, white for PS). I returned the wrong item and when everything is said and done, it will have taken a month to get that money returned to me, so be sure you are careful about which controller you’ve selected. Happy with the product but utterly dismayed at the extended timeframe for concluding the sale and refund. The world is moving entirely too fast for refunds to take a month to process.

The controller is great and snaps onto basically any phone. I personally have the iPhone 13 myself and have a traditional apple phone case which I need to take of when snapping in the backbone. The first thing you should do is unbox it which should come with a manual, the backbone and a pair of smaller phone grips (for the minis) Attach your phone phone and the download the app backbone. After that It will take you through a couple steps to setup and then offer you a subscription. I believe the subscription is 45pounds annually. What this subscription does is give you access to things like Xbox live GeForce now etc. This subscription is OPTIONAL and you do not have to buy it to play games on your phone but will mean that you can’t play gt5 csgo2 etc without the subscription. This subscription is sadly hidden when you order and isn’t shown. I haven’t bought the subscription because I play Codm on my phone with this and don’t play pc games on my phone but if you want to you have to buy the subscription. The backbone is AMAZING QUALITY and the buttons feel great and tactile although the LT and RT are a little squishy but this doesn’t really impact gameplay. Overall I think the purchase is definitely worth it but do be warned about the 50 pound subscription. If you play App Store games with this make sure it says it supports console or just search it up. If you want pc games then you must buy the subscription. Thank you for reading

This is a great buy, impressive quality, feels solid in the hand and well made. Works an absolute treat with my iPhone Pro Max, good speed internet would be a must. I can now enjoy my PS4 games anywhere at home without hogging the TV. Highly recommend, worth the price.
