My first image (Sun stacked from a 3min raw video)
Before buying any of the modern smart telescopes it is worth taking time to understand the limitations of a small aperture and the 'cropping' and thus the limit to the size of object you can capture. For example, even with a 2 x mosaic, andromeda won't fit. That said... I have been an amateur astronomer nearly all my life so I knew exactly what to expect. 50mm is your standard binocular diameter, meaning planets will be too small to get a great view of, although seeing Jupiters moons and the rings of Saturn is quite a thing in itself. So far I have only used it to capture an image of the sun. I spend a lot of time solar and lunar observing...well, used to. Ill health leading to disability means I cant stand long enough or bend to look through an eyepiece, meaning this is a fantastic solution. I can admire the sky from the warmth of my living room on my phone or iPad. I've not felt this excited about astro things in a long time because it felt like something I could no longer do. The main things: Its really cool, feels well built and the setup took seconds once I'd downloaded the app and set the scope to connect to my wifi network (rather than directly). I popped the tripod and solar filter on, and went back inside.

Amazing start to Astrophotography!
Absolutely cracking telescope. The Seestar S50 is simple to set up and easy to use, even if you have never touched a scope before. The app connects without fuss, alignment is automatic, and the images it captures are properly impressive for something this compact. The build quality feels solid, and the battery lasts a fair while on a night out under the stars. Perfect for quick sessions or travel. Honestly, it makes astronomy fun instead of fiddly. Five stars all day!

Literally beyond 5 stars! Wanted one for the longest time and finally got one. So excited for the clouds to disappear so I can use it 😍

Star gazing or sun spotting
I want to give this 5 stars but due to the appalling British weather have not been able to do any night time photography yet. I did manage however to get a photo of the sun when there was a brief interlude from the rain. After calibrating the compass by twirling the S50 a couple of rotations and setting it up on my own taller tripod and fitting the solar filter, it automatically searched and found the sun with a message to confirm it was centred, I got some fair shots of the sun. I am amazed at how easy it is to use the S50, most of the work is done by its computer brain and can search for stars and nebulae easy without a fuss, but you do need clear skies and little light pollution which are not local to where I live.
