The Flick espresso distribution tool (WDT) is intuitive, fun to use, and safe, thanks to its retractable needles. One-click pops the needles out when you need them, and a flick of the wrist sends them right back in. Puck prep has never been so much fun.

Review: Amazing quality , well designed.. - So I have quite a few WDT tools and I really didn’t need another one, but this was priced relatively affordably. Normally you pay around $10, and this is x 3 the price, but I’ve had a good experience with most of Subminimal products and I thought I’ll try this out. This comes with slightly thicker stock needles, but they give you three extra pairs of needles ( actually hairpin style ones) which are a little thick and can be replaced with included tool and a Philips screw driver, which I did immediately because the included needles on the device are too thick. The needles are actually a curved hairpin style, so you can’t pull them out like regular WDT It’s really well made , it has a magnetic design , I found the magnetic puck mechanism inside while changing the stock needles -that helps it to flick out on a button, press and flick in when you just turned it upside down and it’s really satisfying to use. I see what people mean when it’s a really good fidget spinner kind of relaxation tool. In addition they give you a magnet that you can stick on the wall, a very well made heavy stand and the device itself is magnetic. So you really don’t need these attachments, but they give them to you ,anyway And it’s all in a nice presentation box. So this will be an excellent gift for somebody who is down the Coffee rabbit hole because it’s made really well and works well.

I bought the Subminimal Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool to improve puck preparation on my Sage Bambino Plus, and it has proven to be an excellent piece of kit. The biggest advantage is the clever flick mechanism. With a simple press, the needles extend for use and then retract neatly back into the body for storage. This makes it far more practical than many WDT tools where the needles are permanently exposed and easy to bend or damage. Build quality is excellent. The tool feels solid, precise and well engineered, with a premium finish that reflects the Subminimal brand. The needles are thin enough to break up clumps effectively without over-agitating the coffee bed, which helps create a much more even distribution before tamping. In use it is quick and intuitive. A few light passes through the grounds noticeably improves consistency and reduces clumping, resulting in a more even puck and more predictable extraction. For anyone trying to dial in espresso or improve shot consistency, it is a very helpful addition to the workflow. The retractable design also makes it easy to keep on the counter without worrying about damaging the needles, which is something that can be a problem with traditional WDT tools. Overall this is a thoughtfully designed, high-quality distribution tool that makes puck preparation easier and more consistent.
