Revell 03972 F-15E Strike Eagle & Bombs 1:144 Scale Unbuilt/Unpainted Plastic Model Kit

Great model and went together with no real issues

I'll update this once I'm done, but for now I'm in the middle of build and generally it's very good. I'm more into 48th builds so was a little wary of the smaller scale. But this 2021 tooling is impressive in detail with a good cockpit (I've added more seat belts) and the surface detail is subtle and comprehensive. Some kits (looks at Airfix) can be a bit heavy handed with their panel lines at this scale. Fit is generally OK, tho the underside wing joint needs a fillet (the other side is fine), and the build is complicated due to the Eagles complicated shape. The decals look amazing in the flesh and hopefully go on well. Once I'm done, or find issues, I'll update this. A Update - FFWD some time (and even longer to remember to return to this) and the Eagle is done and proudly displayed. She took some sanding to make the joints presentable but that's Eagles for you, their shape is difficult to mould for kit manufacturers so no fault of Revell that some effort was required. But it paid off I think. She looks great. One issue was the extravagant decals. They tore several times and I had to replace them. Unfortunately the plane's curves defeated the big decal sheets which snapped during positioning. Perhaps you could slice them up first into more manageable pieces, but yeah, be warned. It's tough esp around the nose and cockpit. So I got 3rd party markings for Lakenheath in the UK where I've spent many happy days watching these things for real. Overall its a great kit. Sometimes Revell do them, believe it or not, and this is one.

This was a birthday gift for a little boy (9 to) who is obsessed with airplanes and is a big fan of Top gun. He managed to assemble it with the help of his dad and a little bit of glue relatively quickly and he loves it! The only thing is he didn’t manage to put the stickers on ( too tiny and even following the instructions teu just fell apart )but still got a cool addition to his airplane collection!

Exactly as expected- had to Explain how transfers work to the modern kiddo.

Pros: Cheap Good fit, only really need to use puty on the underside of the wings. Excellent details Palm size makes it great for storage Cons: Some parts will need modifying so you can attach them onto the aircraft as there's no pinholes for them to fit. Awful flash on the intakes (but thats only case of flash) that will need to be removed. There's also moulding circles that need to be sanded. No pilot figures. tl;dr Go buy this kit if you have some experience with building+painting scale models before.

This was my second model since getting back into modelling. Overall a good kit from Revell, there were some minor issues with the mold in some locations but nothing too bad that cant be fixed. I do recommend using super glue to attach that landing gear to the body as rubber cement can soften the joints too much and cause bending. Overall decals were nice and I used the Red Rippers design to make it in the low observable scheme. Overall pleased with the outcome. The model probably took me more than 20 hours.

This is a very good and highly accurate in detail model of the f-14. I have known this plane in person since the early 70's and have had several versions and found this to be one the the best. arrived exactly on day expected and place in good safe location as directed.
