K&F CONCEPT Magnetic Variable Fader ND2-ND32 ND Filter and Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter 2 in 1 for DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Multi-Coated/HD Optical Glass

The big draw to getting an Osmo Pocket 3 instead of using my phone is that is can shoot cinematic footage, but unfortunately, the only way to get that kind of footage is by adding on an ND filter so that the shutter speed can sit properly at double the fps. I was looking for just a variable ND filter at first and was looking separately for a diffusion filter and was pleasantly surprised when I found this combo. I have used K&F filters before and have been happy with their quality so I thought I would give it a go. I did some tests which I posted that show the results of keeping my settings at 3k 24fps 1/50 for each shot. I shot in LOG so I brought the footage into my editor and threw the same basic LUT on all of my clips without making adjustments for each clip separately so I could see what difference the ND filter would make. As you can see from the clip, the ND by itself makes a huge difference and although you can't see a huge difference with the diffusion filter in these shots, you can definitely see that the light has a nice bloom effect. Also another great thing about the lens is that you can keep it on when the camera is on and off without obstructing the camera when closing. I know some other ND filters would not allow you to shut off the camera because it wouldnt fit when closed, but this is not an issue here. Overall I would highly recommend so far if you have an OSMO Pocket 3 and are looking for better colors and more cinematic footage from your camera.

UPDATED REVIEW: It turns out the issue I cited below was my user error. K&N reached out and replaced the filter. Takeaway lesson, be sure that you are not using this filter ON TOP of another filter. The refraction of light created that distortion and when I corrected this issue by using only the Variable ND, it worked as expected. I have to take my hat off to customer service at K&N. They reached out before the issue, during and provided feedback and suggestions. As mentioned below, the filter does not need to be removed when closed. It works as expected and can be shut down without any interferences. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Good in theory, however I have to confirm what is reported by some in reviews and YouTube... the filter causes a very strange color banding effect throughout entire frame. (see photo shown below). In my case, RED & GREEN color banding show in every direction (not just direct light). This is unfortunate because getting a diffusion & ND in one filter would have been ideal. It also has the benefit that it does not interfere when the pocket 3 gimbal closes and can remain on. I am not sure if this is caused by the coating on lens or just the design. I have reached out to K&N support but have not heard back yet.
