Reduces some sound
I put this product around the sides of my home's ERV (energy recovery ventilator). The ERV is loud and annoying. This sound deadening foam stuck to the metal sides of the ERV with no problem, was easy to measure and cut, and reduced the higher tones that were very annoying. The unit is by no means silent after having this foam mat applied, but this product definitely helped! If I were to order this again I'd get the thicker foam and more of it.

Lightweight and Durable
My husband is terribly interested in using this fine product for sound proofing, or buffering, our loud and powerful generator that is used for every one of our power outages living our in rural America which is a lot. This material came all rolled up and I was so sure that moving it nearer my husband's soon-to-be work area was going to be tough, but this material is so light that it can be carried with ease. My husband is planning on placing it on the bottom part of our generator housing unit that he crafted some time ago, and he reported to me for this review, that it should be done with ease since he is going to use a staple gun which I am not sure if that is a standard way to install it, but it is for him (he owns our home, by the way). I love the thick material, my husband is going to appreciate the ease of installng it and we will both benefit the quieter rumblings of our generator!

Hard to cut in detail
Nice density no bad smell, but its too delicate, it rips off fast and its not forgiving to handle once is glued in place. It's hard to cut with scissors it gets stuck and with a knife it leaves jagged edges or it rips. Cannot cut in detail edges. This is for hidden places out off sight.

Good adhesion, easy to install
I had to remove a door panel for a different issue, so I took the opportunity to add this to that door. It feels lightweight for the thickness, compared to similar deadener foam materials, whether that’s a positive thing or not. But it does adhere very well and it is flexible enough to follow the surface even over steep bends. In the end, the area covered may not make much of a difference, and it is only the window actuator mechanism that is noticeable quieter after adding this, so I trust it actually does help. Only if I get the time to add the same to the rest of the cabin I’ll be able to tell.

Rips easily!!!
This stuff rips very easily! The adhesive backing seems to be good.

Great for quieting down your doors
I have been working on the front doors of my car to get the best sound out of them. First I replaced the speakers, then used a butyl sound deadener inside the doors and on the inner door panels to seal everything up. I was still hearing some road noise, though so I got this foam to put over the sound deadener. It's been a cost effective way of quieting down my interior! To install it, I cut a piece as large as the door panel and used a razor blade to cut out passageways for the door handles, working harnesses, etc. Shaping the foam to fit was pretty easily done. Then I peeled the backing and stuck it on. A couple months in and it's holding up well without falling off.
