How long have the batteries been sitting on the shelf? What is the approximate manufacturing date?

The description says: “This item can't be returned This item is non-returnable, but if the item arrives damaged or defective, you may request a refund or replacement.” I suppose you can put your trust in Amazon to stand behind their sale. The description also says Number of Batteries: 1, but this is supposed to be a 2-battery cartridge. You’re only saving $5 over retail here.

I have a bx1500g. the apc website says the replacement is apcrbc124, but apc seller here on amazon says its the apcrbc123. which is it?

I would go with what apc says. im guessing here but the 124 probably has higher amp hour batteries. They would be the same voltage but you would get more run time with the 124

Are the batteries supposed to be charged? Mine arrived fully discharged. Does this mean they they are defective?

Mine did not arrive "fully" charged, but charged once they were installed in my unit and have worked fine ever since. I would not consider them defective unless they fail to reach full charge once installed in your UPS. Try them out.

Does anyone know if this pack is compatible with model number apc back-ups pro 1000 (bp1000)???

This battery is a cartridge type. It slides into the APC and makes the connection to the terminal. You might open your back-up unit and see what the batteries look like. Sorry I don't have a definite answer.
